Word of advice to the OP. Do not just tell the officer you'll get TN and turn back. Formally enter the US and spend a few hours and then head back. I've heard they don't like people doing this so better safe than sorry

Great response from Amber! I'd just like to add that if you get your TN (say) 8-10 days prior to your first day at a land POE, you could go to the closest social security office right there and then and apply for SSN even before you start your job to speed things up.

No but typically people get their TNs a few days prior to job start as CBP understands too that ppl will travel to their new city, settle down etc. However, if one were to show up a month prior to job start, chances are they'd be asked to return at a time closer to the Actual start date

To the OP ... I think nelsona's point us very important. If CBP finds a resume with your us address, they'll likely deny you entry. If I were you, I'd not list the address. Good luck

Personally, I think you'll be fine. You're an engineer doing engineer type work with an engineering degree. Just make sure to dot all i's and cross the t's. Make sure your degree is evaluated/ translated etc

That's correct. You'll get it for duration mentioned on the letter

As nelsona mentions, focus on requirements for TN authorization NOT whether you are eligible for the job. Clearly you were eligible which is why you got the job offer. You present to the officer: Passport TN package Degree along with evaluation if required Birth certs of spouse and kids along...

For 1, there is no visa stamping since Canadians are Visa exempt. You just request for TN 'status'. There shouldn't be any red flags as long as application is solid For 2, border should be fine

H1 provides for dual intent which TN doesn't. So you could renew your H1 even if you have filed for GC which is not the case with TN. Since China is backlogged, personally I feel trying for H1 (esp since your company is funding everything) is not such a bad thing
