DV winners, please read this first ! General Info

The 3 possibilities for "evidence of support" were given to me by the immigration lawyer I had hired back then. (btw: this is definitely not needed if your case is straightforward and you are able to do some research yourself on the internet to be prepared). So I had prepared for that long...

What documents related your financial situation need for DV winners

This type of question is asked every week. Please do some research. Here is my post, but it's old now, and some links have been changed. http://immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=215048 Otherwise: 1) 3 months of bank statement? (Yes, No) That could help as proof of your own funds...

Please read my experience post, or my "general info" post. (see my signature). There are also a lot of cases already posted on that subject, so please read through them. As of now you are not married, so she won't be on your applications. You have to get married before your interview at the...

To Paulineg, 1st: Thank you. I have somewhat stopped to help though. It's been a few years now... 2nd: If I remember the rules correctly, no you can't. It is the country of birth that matters... I just checked the 2009 rules: http://travel.state.gov/pdf/2009DVInstructions.pdf

My Kid sister got married before playing the DV2008

I agree with the 2 previous posts. You'lle be fine, as you did not lie when you entered the lottery, you were not married when submitting your application, unlike Bocaroa. Send you forms again with all the info, and send forms for your husband along with a marriage certificate. It's safer.

Applying for US Citizenship after GC

I don't think so. I think it's only from the date you are officially a LPR.

    Maintain GC while working abroad?

You could apply for a reentry permit (I 131). It would protect your GC for an absence of 2 years. You could even renew it. You have to apply it before you leave, but you don't have to wait to have it in your hands as it can be mailed to a US embassy/ consulate overseas. The pb is that the time...

    After Vİsa Approval

I agree with Igmu. You should still activate your green card. Once you have it, you could apply for a reentry permit (form I 131) which would allow you to stay out of the US for up to 2years without jeopardizing your GC. You have to be physically in the US when you apply, but you do not have...

    Renew greencard after 25 years

    1. As long as one single trip was not too long, he's fine. And 300days of absence over 25 years isn't much to me. 2. I don't think so. He's applying to renew the GC, that's all.

    LPR / Register to Vote

Good morning everyone ! I have a question regarding being a LPR and voting. I thought that as a LPR it was possible to vote for local (only) elections. last night, I got invited to a political gathering. The person running for mayor told me I couldn't vote, she specifically said, only USC...

    Spouse Leaving First (earlier)

The principal applicant can go to the US first alone, and then the rest of the family can join him/ her. OR the whole family can go at the same time. The important thing is that the principal applicant is either first, or with the rest of thge family when entering the US for the 1st time...

Winning the lottery doesn't mean getting GC?

That's true: the lottery works by steps, and each time, there is potential for "losing": #1 : you submit your info. You have to meet the requirements (country of birth, age, education...) # 2: you may get a "winning letter" : about 5million people enter the program, but about 100,000 get a...

Jurist: no, it doesn't work like that. First, you have to be MARRIED. Second, no polygamy.

    tax return record from IRS

Again: in the past, some people have been asked to show tax documents at interviews for GC ( AOS or CP ) or citizenship. I did CP in Paris 2years ago, but wasn't asked for them whereas someone I was in contact with had been asked for them the year before ( he was a 04DV ) in Paris too ! So who...
