WOW!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Can you let us know which embassy did you had the interview at? Because we are actually trying to see if this is specific for a few embassies or they are all being picky with the photo.
Hey I'm no expert here. And I don't want to crush anybody's dreams... I'm just saying that, at this pace, we will barely get to 2200 - 2500.
BUT there are rumors about a new wing for Bogota's embassy to receive the load of cases from Venezuela (not just DV cases, all the requests) and that...
I'm not Simon, and I'm also not very optimistic with the future of numbers over 2.500. Embassies' capacity (most cases are spread between 2 embassies that are not used to the load this year: Georgetown -for cubans- has around 600 cases /year, this year over 2000; and Bogota that just manages...
Well, I don't suggest. They have EVIDENCE or proof that the photo is older than 6 months old. How? Let's see: if you used the photo for a tourist visa application 7 months or more before the entry to dv; if the photo it's the same on your passport issued 3 years ago, and so on. If they can PROVE...
I'm Sorry, I don't understand. If you are asking if somebody using a photo from a previous dv lottery was denied because of that, we haven't heard of such case, but really want to know. If you know about somebody that used an old photo and went to interview, please let us know
I have found several different cases. It doesn't necessarily have to do with how different they look, but with the fact that the US has "proof" that the picture is old. In all the cases I know, the pictures were previously used in another visa application (tourist or student visa).
Well, maybe we should ask the State Department about that. And it's OBVIOUSLY not regardless of where they live. The Bogota embassy substitutes the Venezuelan embassy that closed in february.
If you are a Venezuelan but live in Tokio, I'm sure you can have your interview in the Tokio embassy...
??????
What do you suggest? For example, moving to another country to attend the interview in said embassy? Enroll in classes in that country? I'm not trying to be rude here, but I would like to know what would be the "strategy" to go to that country FOR the interview and have another reason...
Hi @Grug Yes, I'm selected for DV2020 but my photo was new... I did follow the instructions. But I'm at a group for winners from my country and I've seen too many denials based on old photos... but all those photos were used in an actual application (usually, tourist visa). I wonder if they save...
Do you know about old entry photos? Not previous NIV applications but dvlottery applications. I'm sure there are lots of cases with that scenario too and we still don't know what happens there... All the info I have is about previous NIV applications
