My question was - if the RFE has tax return for year 2001(say) then what do you submit? Would transcripts from a IRS office be sufficient or would you need copies(from IRS office)? But it looks like just xerox copies of the returns that you have are sufficient(from your post).

How did you get copies of 2001 tax returns? Did you get it from IRS local office? If so how long did it take you to get it? Do you know if we should be submitting copies or transcripts? Your input would be appreciated.
How did you guys respond to the RFE for tax returns? Did you apply for (1) Copies of tax returns (2) Transcripts of tax returns (3) Xeroxed your original.

That is what I was thinking of earlier(i.e. Xeroxing) but from a lot of prior post it looks like people are talking about getting this from the IRS office. However I did not see a conclusive answer on any of the threads. Infact on one of the earlier posts one member has posted that...
A RFE has been issued for both my spouse's and my I-485 application on April 11 2003. Neither me nor my lawyer have received the RFE letter yet. Nevertheless I would like to get started on collecting the possible documents that I may need to respond to the RFE. Looks like copies of prior years...
