I assume you applied for 485 on 2/20/2002, not 2003. If its 2003, one year back does sound correct.
If you applied at VSC, then it is somewhat unusual. My RD is in Feb 2002 and I got my FP notice in April 2002 itself.
If your service center is not VSC, I don't know whether it is...

You just need one page for stamping GC in your PP. Its a manual stamp which contain about 2 lines. Even if you have only one empty page in your PP, you are OK for now.

My questions -
1. After PP expiry, does the Indian Consulate issue a new passport with a different number?
You need to apply for PP before the current one expires(Technically, You can also do it after the expiry). You will be issued a new passport mostly with the same number. If...
Its not authentic!!!!!
In-the-Q really posted some unrealistic info in Rupnet.
RD:12/05/2001
ND:12/29/2001
EAD:12/28/2001
FP:1/29/2002
EAC-02-062-XXXXX
Can you believe he/she got EAD 1 day before the notice date?
Can you believe he/she got the FP notice within 1month of ND and got...
Thanks Shirubio for posting the new information about 90 day window.
When you apply for EAD and didn't receive the approval within 90 days, the you can get a temporary EAD from local INS office. I think they issue it for 3 months period or so. If an RFE is has been issued on your EAD, then...
Get one from Local Office
You can stay in US on AOS status. You can't work when the EAD expires. If you have applied for renewal EAD and 90 days has passed and still didn't get it, you can goto local INS office and request for interim EAD.
If its not even 90 days, you can try to get interim...

Amitgreen has posted the questions asked by users of murthy.com which are relevant to concurrent filing. They are not relevant in your case.
See my responses below;
If the I 140 is approved and also an individual has an EAD card and...

It happend with my wife's first time EAD also. The RFE was for the photographs. They were not complying with INS standards. For EAD, mostly the RFE is regarding photographs. Don't worry.
Bob
As long as you don't get a RFE for the employment, you will be fine, without the paychecks for the employment gap. If you get the RFE and you don't have paychecks to show, you are somewhat screwed-up.

Vidongre is right. If you haven't used your AP during the last re-entry, you can use your H1B visa for the travel.
There are couple of posting in murthy's weekly mail which I thought are interesting regarding the 7th year H1-extention.

Question One : The INS/BCIS approved...

1. Does the approval notice come by regular mail or it comes as a registered mail and needs signature.
All the mail from BCIS comes by regular mail. Nothing needs signature. I collected my friend's plastic card from his mail box, when he was gone to India.
2. Will the post office...

Don't loose heart. When you don't have the EAC number to verify the status of your EAD, you can use your A # as reference. Call the BCIS during business hours and give your A# to the IIO. He/She might be in a position to help you in providing the details.
Sometime ago, there was a...

I agree with you.
My experience in US based on my lawyer recommendations;
I came to US in 98 on Company A H1-b. I got another H1-b from company B in 98 itself. I didn't join company B immediately. In 99 I went to India and re-entered US on Company A H1-b itself. Subsequently in...

My original appointment for finger prints was 4/30/2002. But, I went to the INS support center in Philadelphia on 4/2/2002. I didn't call anyone. I directly went to the center and showed them the appointment letter and asked them whether they can take my fingerprints or not. They said...
Missing Point
The INS current records will indicate that she is on AOS, because she used her AP while entering US, not her H1B. If she has used her H1B visa, then there is no doubt about what is said in above mails.
When you use your AP to enter US, can you still work on H1B without any...
Stripped
You are absolutely correct. With the current BCIS pace, its a good idea to delay the finger printing, if you can or stick to the appointment date. No point in hurrying.
Its already 12 months, since I gave finger prints at then INS support center. My RD is Feb '02. With the current...

FBI check using your finger prints is part of 485 approval process. It has to be done to approve your 485. If you finish this, you have done your job and ball is in the INS court. Whether and when they are going to hit back with RFE or Approval is any body's guess!!
You can also go...

The report of your history based on the fingerprints, submitted by FBI is no longer is treated as valid by INS after 15 months. Why 15 months, I don't know. FBI, INS might have felt that this is a reasonable period of time. From the date one submitted the fingerprints, he might have...
