Don\'t worry, it\'s just a sadistic joke...
I heard the same message. I think everybody does. My case was approved 6 days after the RFE receipt. I think I was extremly lucky, but normaly you can expect to hear something within 4-6 weeks.
Yes, I think the leave of absence helped me...
...because it meant that my I-485 was still valid (happened before 180 days) and therefore my EAD was valid. I worked for another company during that time. The problem is that nobody can really tell you what you are allowed to do and what not...
Sorry to hear that SMSU....
I know how it feels if you read about all the other approvals and nothing happens to your case. But then, all of a sudden, it will be there...it will be soon for you too!
But actually, waiting for the RFE approval was less bad than fighting with my employer for...
Thanks! !!! I checked the AVM every day...
and allthough the approval date is 10/29 according to the AVM, the message changed only today.
I called the first time at about 7 PM today and since then I\'ve called about 50 times to hear the wonderfull words again. Last time about 10 minutes...
Just called the AVM and heard that my case has been approved.
ND 10/04/00

RFE received by INS 10/23

AVM changed today, November 1st
My case was difficult since I was laid off, put on leave of absence...
RFE is usually send out close to the end of processing...
in my case that was 10 month after filing I-485.
It seems as if a case is not assigned to an officer before about 10 month after filing.
When finally someone takes your file from the shelf and blows the dust off, he/she either...
Here is the text of the RFE
The RFE said:
"Submit a recently-dated letter from your employer confirming your present position and salary. If you have a new employer (other than [company xxx]) include your date of hire and job description."
So, yes, the position or title you...
Employment letter was not included
No, I got the RFE because there was no employment letter included in the initial application.
My $200 per hour lawyer said it is not necessary when I noticed it and asked him about it, before I signed and sent the application.....
Caused me a lot of...
4-6 weeks
My RFE was received on Oct 23rd (also employment letter). From what I read on this board, it takes about 4-6 weeks until one gets a decision.
I renewed my EAD myself without my lawyer and it was no problem at all. I got the new EAD within 4 weeks.
Please post when you get a...
Was the RFE sent with "traceable" letter, e.g. Fedex, Airborne etc.?
Are you sure it arrived?
I would continue trying to reach an IIO and maybe ask whether you should send it again. My RFE was sent on October 16th via Fedex, it arrived on October 17th and the INS acknowledged the receipt on...
Interesting: AVM said that RFE is for Medical?
Just to confirm: the AVM message said that the RFE is for the medical exam?
My AVM message only says that an RFE was issued, but it doesn\'t say what it\'s for...
Can\'t think of anything else...
Beside the employment letter, everything was in the package: W2, pay stubs, birth certificate etc.
My Details:

I was on a...
Just called the AVM and heard that an RFE has been mailed today.
When my I-485 was filed, my lawyer said it\'s not necessary to send an employment letter, so I guess it\'s for an employment letter.
My problem: thanks to the economic downturn I now only make 40% of the salary I made when...
You can file without employment letter...
My I-485 was filed without an employment letter, because my lawyer said it\'s not necessary. The I-485 was NOT rejected but now (10 month later) an RFE was issued and I guess that is for the missing employment letter. (I haven\'t received the letter...
