My Landing exp at Toronto
Hi Everyone,
I landed at Toronto International airport on 1/4/2003 (saturday). I flew from Albany, NY by Air Canada. At Albany initially airport airline person took my I 94 but when I pointed out to him that he should not take my I 94 since I am returning within 30...
Hi everyone,
I will be landing at Toronto (Pearson) Airport on 4th Jan. Can anyone please share his/her landing experience there? What all I will have to do at the airport etc...
Also at present I am going only for the weekend, just for the sake of landing and will be moving permanently in...
I will be moving to Canada in few months but I need to make a quick entry because I am getting married in Jan. Since I dont have much time before that I will be going only for a weekend. So I was not sure whether we are required to apply for anything other then PR card as soon as we enter.

Hi,
I will be landing in Jan 03. But I am only going for the weekend. So wont be able to apply for SIN card etc. Is it necessary to apply for anything except PR card (which I think will be applied for at the time of landing itself - I am landing by plane)??
Will appreciate if anyone can...
No they dont. But ultimately you will have to let go of one PR status.
BTW when you send your passport for stamping asking them to send it back to a canadian address, if you have not submitted change of address ie they still have your old US address, make sure to include a prepaid self...

enter whatever info is asked and you should know you status.
Remember though that eclient is not updated regularly and many people even have trouble getting any info.
If you cant go to abve link then...
visa stamp is required only for the first time entry and has a expiry which will be earlier of 1 year since your medical or passport expiration date. Since youa re already in Canada you will have to go to either a immigration post at the border or if there is some imigration office (I dont know...
I am assuming you already have your medicals done sometime back?
For me they ahd asked for landing fees when they sent the medical letter, so I had sent my medical, FBI, landing fees together and then it took 2 months to get visa.
I think if you alrady have your medicals you should reveive...
Jeohardy:
First you are confused about stamping -
"I understand that after recieving the Landing Docs, you need to present them at the Port of Entry and your passport gets stamped."
You dont receive any landing docs now. CHC will send a letter asking you to send your passsport to the CHC...
4.I declared $18000 (CND) to bring to Canada with me, should I carry that amount, because I am planning to go alone right now.
You dont need to carry that much money with you. Bring some for immediate needs. Its enough to show bank statements as proof of funds.
1.As per new regulations, with in how many days shall we enter in to Canada?
Nothing to do with old or new rules. You and family have to enter by the expiry date on the visa which will be stamped in your passports.
2.I applied for entire family, right now shall I go alone for landing and...
You can not go for medical before actually gettting the letter because CHC will send you part A of the medical form which you will have to take with you to the doctor.
If you can get your FBI check easily its better to do so. Recently CHC asked one of my friend to submit fresh FBI check after...
I dont think asking for your work status has anything to do with old or new rules or 9/11. Even with old rules at the time applying we submit company letter and all pages of passport including H1 stamping. And you obviously didnt submit that which would have made them suspicious. These people...
I had applied around June end 2001. Got file no in Sept 2001. Medicals in May/June 2002 and final letter in Aug 2002. So it took around 13-14 months for the whole process for me. And my interview was waived. (BTW I delayed sending my medical by 1 month so maybe it would have taken only 12...
just see the current exchange rate and send the fees. There is no fixed rate in US dollors. Its best to get the exact Canadian fees from official canada gov site http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.html
Its best to send few dollors extra, they will return the exess amount. In may case they...
I just got through with my Canada PR process.
I was not asked about any document during the process related to my US visa. It was only at the time of application submission when I had to give copy of passport with H1 stamp.
Also Ray S is right in pointing out that unless you transfer your...
You can and infact you should open the envelope. FBI would have returned you all the papers you send them. You have to send just the Fingerprint card and the small stamped form which FBI would have stapled to your card, to canadian consulate.
Dont forget to send a cover letter giving your file...
