What is your RD of I-485? May be they are looking that too. I am going to apply for my EAD next week. So hopes are very less to get a 2 year EAD based on my PD and RD. This is not fair. As long as you are not current they should issue a 2 year EAD.

I don't see any reason from above for my case. My attorney told last year it self (as soon as he heard of Ext. Review) they will periodcally select some files for internal auditing. I strongly feel that they would have randomly selected some old files.

RFE doesn't mean a visa number is allocated. In general, they don't allocate a number until all the process completed. Very rare situations like in June 2007, they allocated to a big group of applications because of the time crunch. Even if you are current they may issue an rfe.
