My mom's passport will expire on 3/15 next year. Her departure day on her I-94 is 9/13. We plan to extend her stay here to next Feb. But some posts on the Internet seems suggest that she cannot since in next Feb her passport will expire in less than 6 months. Those posts said CIS requires...

But I don't think you will get more benifits if you apply your new SSN card sooner. Actually I think if you have been working with H or L visa, obtaining GC won't get you any extra social benifit. Just my guess.

My wife and I traveled to Canada recently. Passports are not needed on both sides. Our GCs are unconditional, though.

I crossed the border twice by car in the past weekend. Passport wasn't needed. Not sure about flying. But I guess it is not needed.

How do they verify? Right at the spot or they need to send your GC info to their headquarters? I went to apply for my new SSN today. I saw the rep typed my GC info into his terminal. I don't know what he used. Just curious how these goverment agencies share infomation.
