SSN Card

I have a silly question.l received my GC last year and went to remove the annotation of my SSN("valid for work only with INS authorization..." )
I was asked to show my GC. The lady used my A# from my GC.

I received a new SSN yesterday. My question(although silly) is this: Does it mean my GC was verified.

I haven't been out of the country on my GC yet and am a little nervous.
I will appreciate any replies.

Yes they will verify your GC and your new SSN will have no more annotation ...

Yes, you are correct. Your GC is verified by the Social Security Admin Office
and you no longer need visa to work in the US :D Isn't that a cool thing?

Also, from now on, you cannot file your taxes as a non-immigrant. Keep this
in mind, IRS will communicate with SSN Office and they will make sure that
you mention your immigration status as "Immigrant/resident alien". Needless
to say, filing as "non-immigrant/non-resident alien" will cause problems with
USCIS when you apply for your N400.

Good luck.

Change in SS card to remove (INS Authorization required) comment

Hey Guys,

I received my GC 12 months ago.
1) Is it too late to change my Social Security card. My current card hs a comment that INS autorzation is required for work.
2) If I do go for change in card would that change my SSN number.
3) Will it have any effect on my citizenship down the line.

Any help would be appreciated.

1) you can get a new SS card anytime.
2)No
3) Either you do it or not do it, it does not affect.

Only good thing about getting a SS card without annotation is that when you switch jobs you do not need to show GC. All you need is SS card + drivers license

How do they verify? Right at the spot or they need to send your GC info to their headquarters?

I went to apply for my new SSN today. I saw the rep typed my GC info into his terminal. I don't know what he used.

Just curious how these goverment agencies share infomation.
