Hi all,i got my asylum approval beginning of Oct’25 after almost 3 yrs of waiting for the interview with Uscis.I applied for GC and RTD beginning of this month(Nov) and I just received a biometrics appointment notice for green card for next week. How is the process continuing after that?As far as I know Uscis requires 1 yr US presence in Asylee status in order to adjudicate the GC application.Look forward to hearing the experiences of people who have gone through the same process.

There is a whole forum just for that purpose alone, you can find all aspects for this step (I am under same boat. got approved July 2025)

Yes, 1 year presence is required and there is a debate these days whether it is safe to apply prior to end of 1 year, in order to beat the further processing time ( as per USCIS, 19 months approx these day)

What if USCIS picks your application and adjudicates it negatively reasoning your 1 year presence is not complied ?

If that happens, applicant loses the hefty non-refundable fee and process restarts and now there is a tag of rejection on your alien number which may possibly make things more complicated

Some people have applied and they are in line, like you

My lawyer said it s ok to apply before 1 year since Uscis allows that and as a matter of fact,Uscis website doesnt mention any negative repercussions of applying early.
