DV 2025 All Selectees (Consular Processing - CP)

I am a DV winner with CN 2025AS6###. I just got confirmed that I will be moving to Germany for work next month(I tried so hard to get this job). My case might be current for processing with this month bulletin (if increased 1000 more). Is it too late to unlock my case and change embassy location? and If it becomes current, I will have to move my case to from my first embassy to US embassy in Frankfurt, Germany. If anyone has experienced this kind of case, can you please share your experience?

For you info, My job is on a cruise ship which will sail within Germany. So I wont have an home address, but a port address is possible. It is pricy to go back to my country(Myanmar) to take the interview and I cant take long days off to go back (one or two days is okay). I would really appreciate your advices.

Greetings to everyone here,

As a Syrian born Canadian. I am blessed to have found you guys but I owe Simon my life at this point. You guys are awesome.

By the grace of God, I was immediately issued my DV-1 Immigrant Visa from Montreal with no DS-5535 / 221(g). I had it endorsed at a port of entry by CBP the same day as I came from Toronto. Impeccable timing in my opinion.

xxxx AOS really, CP all the way every way. I will probably still have some annoying questions for you guys haha. Thank youuuu!
Hey there. How long did you have to wait for an appointment at Montreal after your number was current?

So my understanding is if you become current in July, your interview would be scheduled for September, right? It's usually 2 months in advance. But what happens for people who become current in August? Do they schedule interviews for September then? What about people who become current in September?

Curious as I'm EU 19k and wondering at what point I should worry that I will not become current on time.

Your understanding of cases becoming current and interview scheduling is a bit out of line. Under normal circumstances, cases that become current in July should be known by May and informed accordingly of interview being scheduled in July. Likewise, cases that will become current in September will be known and informed of their scheduled interview (for September) in July.

Oh ok. So this is where a source of my confusion has been coming from lately. Even viewing a couple of Brit's videos on 2NL I was confused by this. For example his video here at this timestamp:

He talks about Tanya's number becoming current in January, she gets the 2NL in the last week or so of January and the interview will be scheduled in March. He also says that you can always expect 6-8 weeks of time between your 2NL and your interview date.

So now based on my understanding of what you're saying, your interview dates are scheduled based on when you become current in the future. So it's based on them having planned your number to become current, then they already start scheduling interviews for the month in which you become current.

For example; the May bulletin released around April 12th also tells us which cases will be current in June. If this May bulletin says I'll become current in June, it is shortly after this bulletin that I should expect to receive a 2NL which shall inform me of my interview date which should land in June, the month upon which I become current?

Haven’t watched but it’s probably loose terminology. When some people say “current in January” they actually mean “the number was published in the visa bulletin that came out in January”.

and yes, the point of publishing in advance is for planning. Not just for embassies but for selectees who need to collect civil documents etc.

Note that some embassies have backlogs and do not schedule in the earliest month that they technically can. Also if you submitted your ds260 late and it’s not finished processing when your number becomes is published, it may take till the following month to get on the interview schedule .

Got it, that makes way more sense to me and it's what I suspected initially but a few results and videos confused me on the situation.

Thanks for clearing it up.

Hello everyone. The interview was on October 17 in Yerevan, and the case was sent for administrative processing. On CEAC, the last update date was February 5 (Refused with a long text). I have three questions:
  1. How much longer should I expect to wait for a decision? Is there any available statistics? I read somewhere that prolonged AP cases usually get resolved by August. I'm also concerned that they took my original higher education diploma for review.
  2. Is there a risk that while my case is under review, the visa quota will be exhausted, and I will miss my chance? Or could the fiscal year end before my case is processed?
  3. If the outcome is positive and I get a new medical exam, will I still have to enter the U.S. by September 30? For example, if my visa is valid until October 5, can I enter on September 29?

Thanks in advance!

1. No way to tell how long AP will take
2. There is a risk but unlikely as your interview was so early in the FY
3. Your visa will be valid for entry until its expiry date, which is usually 6 months from the date of the medical (but sometimes 6 months from date of issue). September 30 is not a relevant date for entry, only the expiry date on your visa is. If your visa is valid until Oct 5, you can enter on Oct 5 (though would of course not advise cutting it so fine in case of flight delays etc).

Hi everyone! I have a question regarding our intended address in the US. We originally put our friends address as the plan was to stay with them until we found a place of our own etc. We have now decided we actually want to move to a different state. We have our interview coming so I’m wondering if this is something we need to change at our interview however, we won’t know our address until we move and find a rental… Is it okay to keep it as our friends even though we now won’t be staying them? Does anyone have any advice regarding situations like this?
Thank you

It’s fine to keep it. (We had my dad’s address but never stayed there, immigrated into an entirely different state in fact.) You can change it at port of entry if you know where you’ll be, if you only figure it out after you are in the US remember you will need to let USCIS know via AR11 change of address form. Remember your green card/ss will be sent to the address on file at POE so make sure you have an arrangement to get them from your friend if it still lists their address.
