Mother Visiting Permanent Resident - Problem at Airport?

Hi there,

I urgently need some advice: my German citizen mom is coming to visit me tomorrow. I just got to think that she may run into trouble at the immigration at the Denver airport, since I am a permanent resident.

Do you think that may be the case?
She is only staying for 2 weeks, but maybe the guys at the passport control are going to hold her back, because she is visiting her permanent resident daughter?

Should she maybe not tell them that she is visiting me?

Any input or experience appreciated!

Thanks,

Patty

Just relax

Why would there be a problem? Please relax. You're a perm resident a GC holder. Why would immigration stop her at the airport? I am confused. It's actually a good sign that you are living here in US legally. What's wrong with that? Probably what you are thinking is, your mom may be denied entry coz immigration may think that she may intend to stay here in US and not return back to Germany....something like that? If that's what you thinking, just relax, she will be fine.

That is right. Also, as a GC holder you can not petition for your mom's immigration so there is no "big" risk.

Most of the VWPers has no issue to enter as nobody knows their relatives are in the US.
Only those who need to get B visa MAY face the issue at the consulate, but parents are most probably safest people to get the visa even though the LPR son/daughters are in the US.

Most VWP aliens and Canadians will tell CBP that they are visiting their children.

Generally speaking, VWP aliens and Canadians are extremely unlikely to have immigrant intent or stay illegally, especially if they have close ties to their home country. That's why the visa requirement is waived in the first place.
