Wrong A# in Application for N400

In any case the IO will go over this with him in the interview..the question is confusing as it asks "how many times has your current spouse been (as in past) married" and on the next line goes on to say "if your spouse has ever been married..."
It seems to tie the words "been" and "ever been" together in these two sentences and therefore leads to confusion.
Come to think of it, I may have written down "1" myself, even though my wife was never married before.:p

USCIS should have worded it "How many times (including current marriage) has your current spouse been married"

I agree with what you guys say. With my street smart sense, I did write down [1] but when I read the 'Instructions for N-400, Application for Naturalization' I got confused and wrote 'N/A'. Well, still hoping that I will receive the recalled mail and send the corrected copies. Also, I may just cancel the Money Order and send a personal check so that I know when it was cashed - not that it matters. Thanks!!

Bobbysmyth--I think you are not giving correct info in this case.

2buscitizen,: if the present marraige of you and your spouse is the first between you and you spouse and both seperately were never married b4, the answers for 8a & 8G is 1 ( I mean ONE). Hope its clear.

For EX : If u & yr spouse were married to each other two times , the answer is 2 in 8A & 8G.

For EX : if its first marraige for you ( I know it is from yr msgs) , you are your spouse's second husband ( i know its not from your msgs), the answer is for 8a is 1 and 8g is 2.

For me the instructions are not that confusing. its my 2 cents.

I guess my chances are doomed. This morning I checked the tracking status of my packet and it says delivered at Mesquite, TX. I guess, now I have to wait for USCIS to catch that error, either fix it themself since I've the copy of my GC, or mail the packet back to me so that I can resend the corrected ones. I am so off that USPC did not try hard to recall the packet. I gave USPS more then 80% of the opportunity to do so. What a shame...although, I should not blame any one for the first mistake I did to begin with. I don't know what to expect now. Should I try calling USCIS in few days? Thanks guys.

Wait until you get the NOA and then call them to inform them of the mistake.
 
So, you are saying no matter the mistake I made, USCIS are going to send me a NOA? Also, when is it that I can see and track the progresses made to my case in USCIS web site?

I don't see why they wouldn't send you a NOA if the only mistake is the A#. They normally return the application in instances of missing/insufficient funds and/or missing signatures, or wrong service center. People have made the same mistake in the past (typographical error) and were able to correct it after they received NOA.
As for the online case system..don't bother with it as it's uselss.

Since I have not received any letter from USCIS yet, do you think I should try calling them to inquire about the mistake I made in my application? I really hope they will return the entire package without entering anything in their database so that I can make changes to the following:
(1) Correct the Application so that I write down the correct A#
(2) Remove 'Yes' to the most argues question regarding Arrest and Citation stuff. In last 7 years I have had no tickets and those I received are for minor things such as speeding, red light, suspended license, etc...one stop with 3 tickets. Originally, I said 'Yes' and listed the 'Offences' and attached a transcripts issued by the State.
(3) Correct Part 8G. I had 'N/A' and I need to change that to '1' since I was confused.

Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

Was your check cashed yet? Wait till you receive NOA before calling them.
 
When it get's to the service center they open your envelope and look at everything. If something doesn't add up they send the application back to you.
In my case it was sent back because I wrote on the check 100/100 instead of xxx/100 for the cent amount.
As for Marriage it should be one. Well that is what I did at least and N/A actually doesn't make sense if you are currently in a Marriage.
Also when you go for Fingerprinting. You can write the RIGHT A# in it and when you go for Interview you just bring 2 new Photos to write the right A# on it.

So either on of 2 things will happen. They send it back to you or you can change your mistake at the Interview.
 
To add on to this. I am sure you are not the first or the last who made this mistake. I know it was said before but I want to say it too. And think about it most who make that mistake don't even realize it. You're fine. If you are worried about getting denied. Don't ! You didn't intentioally make that mistake and the thing is you can always fix things at the Interview becaue I doubt CS will be helpful in that situation.
 
Bobsmyth, how can I check if the MO I sent was cashed? I wish I sent them personal check instead. Any way I guess it is wait and see game now for me. I strated so badly I have this eeky feeling about the whole thing. Hopefully it will be OK as you all have suggested. Thanks again.

You should be able to check if the money order was cashed by contacting the money order company online or via phone.
Don't worry about your application..mistakes happen and you'll have plenty of time to correct it before the interview. I doubt they will send it back based on an incorrect A# alone.
 
Guys,

Good news my A# is corrected by USCIS and correct one shows in all the letters I have received.

On last Monday I received 2 letters from USCIS. One says 'Receipt with Exception and second is for Fingerprint Notification. For the first one it says it is missing evidence but it does not tell me what is missing. Is it normal?
Second letter has my FP appointment in Tampa for May 15th 2008. Is it normal to receive both letters on same day? Is Tampa moving faster? Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

It is common to get both the NOA and FP notice at the same time. I got both of mine on the day as well - post mark was on the same day too.

Furthermore, the exception on the NOA is usually an indication that you have answered 'Yes' to one of the questions asked in the N-400 such as citations, arrests, etc. For example those who answer yes to questions 9-32 in section D of the form may get an NOA with an exception or at times an RFE. Did you by chance have any traffic tickets and so you answered 'yes' to question 16?

If you didn't answer 'yes' to any of those questions, then its most likely an error on USCIS's part.

Yes, I answer 'Yes' to question 16 under 'Good Moral Character'. I had few minor Traffic citations in the past and none in last 6 years....clean as a whistle. After I sent my package I realized I should have just said No but oh well. It was confusing and I wanted to make things all clear for USCIS? Any effect on this? Thanks.
