Will a Misdemeanor Back in 1990 Hurt My Naturalization Application

Don't worry about "rubbing the wrong way". That already will happen when they see the criminal incidents. The presence of the attorney helps to prevent them from bullying you and "witch hunting" you to extract more incriminating details.

I heard the interview only last 12-15 minutes. They probably do not have much
time for detailed question/answer around one particular issue. They will just
reviews your pariticular issue later without your or your lawyer presence.
So bringing a lawyer does not help much. Someone prefer a lawyer to write a memo and send the
memo in with the application.

It is hard to guess which way is better or worse or does not really
matter. It is also possible the issue is very trivial in the first place but
if you make such a big deal out if it yourself by bringing a lot of stuyff from
lawyers with wriiten memo or laywerr person presence, that may push the USCIS into
the tendancy of thinking of the matter as a very serious matter too.

No matter what, I 'll just say muster your guts and go ahead
to file your application with lawyer's professional help to get this
over with. Life is full of uncertainty and one has to gamble no matter
what. Even if you get citizenship, you still can have other misery
in other aspect life. Even if the worse scanario like deportation come,
so be it --- no one say you have to be in USA to live a happy life.

You don't read this forum a lot. Many people do get grilled intensively for having questionable travel or criminal or marriage issues, sometimes resulting in the interview dragging out to more than half an hour. It's for the routine cases with no red flags that they'll just want to breeze through in 10-15 minutes.

They have as much time as required to go over the questions. There's not a set time limit. It's not unheard of more complicated cases taking 1-2 hours at the interview, depending on how much time the IO decides to spend on a question.

Then it is good. Then bring a lawyer. You have more time explaining.
It is better than the other way around that they just decline yoru case
without bothering to waste their time on it
