Don't worry about "rubbing the wrong way". That already will happen when they see the criminal incidents. The presence of the attorney helps to prevent them from bullying you and "witch hunting" you to extract more incriminating details.
I heard the interview only last 12-15 minutes. They probably do not have much
time for detailed question/answer around one particular issue. They will just
reviews your pariticular issue later without your or your lawyer presence.
So bringing a lawyer does not help much. Someone prefer a lawyer to write a memo and send the
memo in with the application.
It is hard to guess which way is better or worse or does not really
matter. It is also possible the issue is very trivial in the first place but
if you make such a big deal out if it yourself by bringing a lot of stuyff from
lawyers with wriiten memo or laywerr person presence, that may push the USCIS into
the tendancy of thinking of the matter as a very serious matter too.
