When to file - 4yrs & 9months ?

1) I am eligible at 5yrs - am I correct I can file 3 months ahead?

2) I will be filing mine and spouse's together - can I do it in one envelope? If so the filing fees, should they be in one check or separate check?

3) So if I have had traffic tkts, I should say "yes"?

4) How long does it take to process? I live in CA.

5) Any other tips?

actually, since days do matter, it's 90 days (!= 3 months) before your 5 years GC anniversary; most advise to file no sooner than ~85-87 days before the anniversary.

correct, can be shipped as one envelope. To make sure the individuals stay complete when the handler opens the envelope, have each pack separated with e.g. a rubber band. Each of your 2 cases will get processed individually, sometimes also on a slightly different timeline.

So any 2 or 3 weeks holidays spent abroad are not to be accounted for in the 5 yrs - 3monhts?
I had a few holidays abroad - most was about 3 weeks. Do I still go by 5 rs - 3 months to lodge my application.
 
Yes. You just list those trips, but you can still file 5 years - 90 days prior to your 5 year GC anniversary.
 
I would still use separate addressed envelopes for individual applications and then put both of them in one bigger envelope.
