When do I get the A#

What is the A# and when do you get it?

I am EB3 India with a PD of July 2001. Labor approved in Jan 2007 (yes, 5 1/2 yrs :mad: ), I140 applied in Feb 2007 still pending. My priority date became current in June visa bulletin, so I am planning to apply for 485, EAD and AP next month. The company lawyer is charging fees of $650 just for filing EAD and AP. So I am planning to file EAD and AP myself for both me and my wife. I read in the forums the EAD and AP applications ask for the A#. But I am not sure what it is and if I have it. Please let me know where I can find it.

your i-140 receipt notice that you must have received from uscis will have the A#.


i understand that you must not have filed your 485 concurrently as your pd was not current when your employer filed for i-140. i am not sure, but i think you might have to wait for the approval of i-140 before you can apply for i-485. you might have to check with your lawyer.


yes, ead and ap applications should be straightforward. starting my second ead, i have been filing them myself.

you will get the A# on I-485 filing reciepts

You misunderstand concurrent filing. It is not an "all or nothing" process where the I-485 needs to be filed with the I-140, or one must wait until the I-140 is approved. If the PD is current and the I-140 is pending or approved, the I-485 can be filed.

As I mentioned, I was not clear on this legality. Thanks for the clarification.
