What US Citizen should do After Got Married to Other country's Citizen ???

Hi,
I m US citizen.
I got married to an Indian girl in April 2009,
can you please guide me the following.
1. what do i need to do to change my status from single to married ?? its been more than 7 months, I have'nt take any step, will there be any problem ??
2. what should i do get my spouse here in US from india?? please guide me steps by step.

Congratulations on your new marriage. You don't have to do anything, we don't have laws requiring you to inform the govt of your marital status...:rolleyes:

You will need to file for a greencard application for her. The link I have attached should educated you. It is important for you to read and thoroughly understand what is involved and required for her immigration to the US...:D You can always have her come to stay at my house, I will evaluater her to make sure she is right for you...:eek:

hello, to change your marital status to married I would suggest that you file your marriage contract in the county clerk where you reside.
for the second question, you can petition your wife by filing a CR-1/IR-1 or a K-3 visa that will allow you to petition your wife. Go to visajourney.com and you will find a lot of helpful guides.

To "change one's status to married", one gets married. End of story. You do not need to register anywhere. Seems like someone missed what America is all about.

filing for GC while living seperately

I am a green card holder soon to be a US citizen...in Jan!! my husband has H1-B status. we have been married for 4 months. he will be filing for his GC as soon as i have my citizenship!
the only issue is that we dont live together. We had our Court marriage in July of this year and we plan on having a big wedding with family and friends in Pakistan in July 2010. until then i will continue to live with my parents and my husband will live in a different state where he works and goes to school!
so my concern is whether or not the different addresses and our current living situation will cause any problems or delays in his application process!!!
 
Firstly, you should not have hijacked someone else's thread. You should have started your own.
Secondly, why doesn't he simply file his I-485 after the wedding in Pakistan?
