I was initially denied visa on the 22nd-july 2008, because of my place of birth, which read differently frm the originally electronic submissin form and form DSP-122. But Almighty God interverned after 1month. I was called back and given a Visa pick up form. My pick-up date is thursday.11-09-2008. Has any body in the house heard of such a miracle in the history of DV lottery before? The lord is Good.

Wow, you must have been blessed. What are the chance that they went through your file and approve your visa. Congratulations!!!

There must be something to do with your pick-up date too. 9/11 LoL!!

ok, man.. congratulations... but i make you a question, are you communicated to kcc, that there was an error in your place of birth, in the initial inscription, dsp 230??? I have an error in the initial inscription about my date of birth, my date of birth are 1981 and I put 1982 already. i notifies it, and kcc responded me that serious mistake is annexed to my case.

GOOD NEWS FOR YOU !!!CONGRATULATION .BUT I would like to point out that not many people now go to USA -I think only maybe 40 000 people actualy use the visa -EUROPE dont go to USA , ASIAN people also not going like before -AFRICA goes and SOUTH AMERICA go so now its trouble for USA -they see people do not want to go ;even people who got their visas dont go -they change their mind ; so to fill the number they go back and check papers again

You are actually not wrong. My visa was approved a few days ago (took 30 seconds, the consul didn't ask any question whatsoever). I haven't received my passport with the visa yet, but I am not sure if I really want to go to the US now given the current economic situation prevailing there

Hello Vanden,
i was recently denied..i will like to know if u send additional documents to correct the mistake or what did u really do?in my own case..eventhough,i hold a B.Sc degree in Economics, the consular officer was more particular about my WAEC.he asked more than 10 questions in Chemistry,Physic etc.after which he denied me based on section 212[a] bla bla and not having the minimum education requirement...can u imagine that?

MAN WHY DID THEY DO THAT??? WHAT IS THE REASON, did they give you an explanation..

isnt a WAEC degree equal to 12 years of education??

thanx for ur concern.i still do know what to do about this.

What is the exact reason they gave you as to why they denied your applciation? Additionally you need to provide a more detail information on how your interview started and ended. With that information people may be able to give you guidance for your future DV application should you be lucky to win again

destined4usa, are you from Nigeria? I heard several cases from your region with similar reason for denial and most of them have to do with the WEAC certificate.

I heard many cases of fraudulent WEAC certificate from your region and it has been a problem for the U.S Consulate in there. I'm not saying that your certificate is fake but it seems that the Consular sees that your WEAC is not legitimate. Was there anything that cause the Consular doubt the authenticity of your certificate?

Gerindo,
i am a Nigerian.there r many things most people dont know about Nigeria.Granted, there might be some fraudulent practices going on here and there, but not all Nigerians is guilty.
As regards authenticity of WAEC results,if the USA embassy really want to do their job well, there is a very easy to check for fraud.they could simply ask applicant to provide WAEC result checking cards and do the verifications online,pronto...moreover,i had one on me that very day[but it was not asked for]
here is abit of how the interview went

c:which university did u attended?
m:bla bla bla
C:what is the chemical symbol of water?
me:h2o
c:what is an acid?
me:bla bla bla
c:how many laws of motion have we?
m:bla bla bla
c:list the courses u did at the university?
m:bla bla bla
it went on and on and on like this......
after which is said that i wasn't qualified..
i cant really get it.

Were you told exactly why you did not qualify? Most embassy officers are not scientist and thus I do not think that the mere answers (wrong or right) to the scientific question is the reason for the denial. There must be more to it, may be related to your documentation in a whole

It is very ridiculous that they asked you questions like that. It sounds more like an university entrance exam than a visa interview.

Even if your documents are legitimate, the consular must think that you didn't earn that degree. I can't think other reason what He would ask questions like that.

Anyway, we never know what the reason behind that refusal. There are many things that we don't know what's going on inside the Embassy.

I'm sorry for what happened. It annoys me every time they did that, especially when it comes to immigrant visa, where the objective is to check documents authenticity instead of finding immigrant intent like non-immigrant visa. :(

were you given a written notice of denial? what's the reason listed?
If you won DV-2009, you could probably still appeal the decision IF it was based on them considering your documents fake. Get proof from the MInistry of Education or something like that.

But the specific question about subjects is definitely true...i mean they really do ask these type of questions, even in the student visa interviews.

destined4usa,

I think the source of your problem lies proving the authenticity of the owner of the WAEC o/level results that you presented.

Probably, the fact that you studied Economics in the university while your result had mostly science subject made the consular officer to doubt you being the real owner of the o/level result presented.
The certificate may be genuine alright but the question is are you the person that sat for all the subjects in the examination.
Otherwise, why didn't the consul ask you questions on Economics which is your major course in the university?

The way forward is how you are going to prove to the embassy officers that you are the real person who sat and wrote for all the subjects (science and social science) in the exams.
That you chose to study Economics in the university is your choice and personal affair.

I sympathize with your case, the problem is a Nigerian thing when the Embassy officers does not trust our examinations in the educational system because of the issue of examination malpractices that is associated with our examinations are public knowledge.
