The fee is used to process your visa related documents and verify your identity.

Fees:

Type of Residence Card Status Amount (per person)
United States Permanent Resident Card Granted! - Waiting for payment of processing fee $880
Processing fees Included
Total $880

INSTRUCTIONS

Please read and follow all the instructions very carefully. With the Diversity Visa (also known as Green Card) you will enjoy all the advantages and benefits of a US permanent resident, including health and education benefits, and employment opportunities along with guidance in your new country, orientation sessions and programs to integrate into mainstream American society. Once received you can use it at any time you want to move in the United States or just travel. The visa must be renewed after 10 years.

Although you will have all the rights that a U.S. citizen has in the United States, without a relative or friend in the United States you may find the relocation difficult and expensive due the lack of experience in the American society. Therefore the U.S. Government helps you with accommodation options that you may attach to your visa. These options are not free but are sponsored by the U.S. Government so you may find them convenient as they are cheaper, under market price :

Option #1 : Health Insurance Amount (per person)
Freedom HSA Direct Individual Health insurance for 1 year $200

Option #2 : Dwelling Amount (per apartment)
Apartment in New York, Queens(1 bedroom) for 3 months $400

Option #3 : Guaranteed job Amount (per person)
A job in the field that you are are currently qualified so you can start working even from the first week you arrive in the United States and get paid as U.S citizen. $300

Option #4 : Education Amount (per person)
Education for U.S. Students or Higher Education through EducationUSA. It includes transfer to a U.S college or Univeristy so you can continue your educational study. More details can be found at http://educationusa.state.gov/ . $320

We remind you that only the visa processing fee ($880) is mandatory and the above options are optional so you are not required to pay any of them. However if you don't pay now once arrived in the United States you need to manage everything by yourself.

Accompanying family members(wife/husband, fiancee, brothers, sisters, children, cousins) may be included in the program and their visas will be provided at the same time with yours so you can travel/move together in the same time. However the fees must be paid per person. There is no discount for children.

Hello everybody :)
I've got one too, exactly the same as marijab24 (today at 9a.m.) with the sum of $682. I'm just wondering where they have my phone's number from? Any ideas?

Have a nice day ;)

One quick advise...never respond to any of the emails, not even to say you want them to stop sending anything. Any contact back to them can give them access to your computer and more chances to hack it.

I recently was informed by this by the authorities when inquiring about an issue similar to this... just delete it..

Due to the economy more and more scams are out there and some are so obvious if you use common sense.

Any contact back to them can give them access to your computer and more chances to hack it.
That is patently false. I am not saying that you were not told that by some uninformed person, maybe you were, but it is not true.
The reason why it is recommended not to reply to spam (or click on links) is because it confirms to the spam sender that the email address is still in use.

Replying to an email does not give access to your computer.

If you noticed, most email clients, even those web based like hotmail and gmail, by default do not display images embedded in suspected spam messages. It is the same reason. If those images are hosted on a machine controlled by the spammer, displaying them will make a request to the server which can be used to confirm that the address is in use.

I think you might be right but rather go with the answer of the law officer and don't play with my chances....clicking on the "delete" button goes faster than waisting time on replying to people who don't stop....

Better spent time to report them than replying...JMO

Actually reporting their e-mail accounts to the e-mail provider is not much use either. 419 scammers will usually have load of e-mail accounts to use to commit their crimes from. When one goes down they start off again from another of their e-mail addresses or they create a new one within a matter of seconds. They usually keep records of current victims as well so they don't loose them in case of an e-mail address being killed.

If you want to make the 419 scam you receive public so it doesn't fool someone, you could always put on a site such as scamwarners.com. At least the search engines can pick up the scam that way and some people may catch on before it's too late.

By posting it on this forum might be very helpful to people who are interested in this subject. I agree the more it is posted the more it might be prevented, but in this economy the amount of scam emails are outragous...I receive the "inherit" emails like 5 times a day...I guess I have a lot of relatives that they are aware of and not me...haha

I have a serious problem here;

My wife has received the same email above from the "US State Department" with her phone number, etc.. asking for the Western Union transfer..I understand this is actually a scam...

The thing is that she got another one from USAFIS saying this:

This one does not ask for any money, and says to here to wait US Department to contact her....which makes me to doubt.

On the other hand I wonder how they got her information, I registered into the DV program for 3 years sor far ALWAYS using the Government page, NEVER PAYING A PENNY to USAFIS or whatsoever....Also I always register myself and my wife, but ONLY SHE GOT THESE TWO notifications, I do not have anything in my email account....

PLease need help, we donot know what to do, first one smells obviously like a SCAM but what about the last one? why they just happened today? and why they have her inoformation when I used the same computer to use mien and hers??

Thanks.

When did you get that one? The new winners will be announced in May at the earliest.

The second one was received by my wife just right after the first one on the 23rd of February (a few days ago) at 2:40pm Europe time.

The second one is from USAFIS. We never payed them for anything, I always applied for the two of us using the same computer and one application just right after the next one, however only she got these emails (I haven't, so why the scam didn't reach me too?).

Also I wonder why the email from USAFIS is not requesting any money, instead is asking for her to wait for further information from the US State.

Not sure what is all this story about, but we have been applying for three years so far and this is the first time ww (she) got these emails....

Any clue?

Thanks.
