Visa Lottery Scam emails!!!! Be Aware!

The second one is from USAFIS. We never payed them for anything, I always applied for the two of us using the same computer and one application just right after the next one, however only she got these emails (I haven't, so why the scam didn't reach me too?).

Also I wonder why the email from USAFIS is not requesting any money, instead is asking for her to wait for further information from the US State.

Not sure what is all this story about, but we have been applying for three years so far and this is the first time ww (she) got these emails....


Any clue?

If you have the Notification Number, you can check at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ESC/

But that is for DV-2011? I tried with her notification number of that time and she has not been selected as we already checked last year. I am talking about DV-2012, which notification numbers we still have but we could not check so far because our understanding is that the web will be available from 1st of June.

This is a scam if this email is for DV-2012 and USAFIS says your wife has won!

Yes its a scam as he said. You have to understand one thing, Notification of winners are not sent through email. Winning notification will be sent as an official letter from the Kentucky Consular Center, U.S. Department of State in Williamsburg . The status of your application can be checked online at the E-DV website to check if you win the lottery.

My understanding is that you will not receive a notification letter either. The sole method to check if you have won is on the official DV-2012 website (http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ESC/) only AFTER May 1st, 2011.

Here are the exact words on the DV Entry Confirmation page:
"Selectees will not receive selectee notifications or letters by regular postal mail from the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC)."

The selected individuals will be notified by postal mail in the following year between may and july. The notification will contain the further instructions and the fees regarding getting an immigrant visa to immigrate to USA.
