Labor Cert VA

I applied for LC in OCT - 2002 under RIR, I guess I should stop whining about the process being too slow as I see people who have filed LC like a year before me and still have not received approval.

slow_lc can check status until approval for 02/06/2002

Since slow_lc has volunteered to check the status after john_cdn (whose date is 01/04/02) I suggest slow_lc can check status until approval for 02/06/2002 dates.

Let us keep the status checks to as minimum as possible as this can cut into case processing time.

VA SESA - Incompetent losers?

Does VA SESA have a website? or a phone no? Please post it if someone knows.

Also, does anyone know what is the reason for such appalling, atrocious delays?

The new labor cert processing times report indicates that they processed 19 days worth of applications in 1 month while all other states, even NJ processed 1 month worth of apps, 2 mos for MA and some other states.

Why this kind of horrendous times for VA, are the people just incompetent or is it the number of applications??

Does anyone have a clue about this, When will this improve?

Any one got VA labor approved yet

Hello friends anyone have got their VA labor yet please post your reply.
Thanks
Orissa.

Thanks Dude for the web address. I applied for my LC in Oct-2002 (EB2, RIR) so we are almost in the same boat.

My freakin stupid HR person did not submit the details to the lawyer for like 3 months even though the ad was placed and everything was ready to go, so my app got delayed for 3 mos, I still get pissed off whenever I think of it and see the horrendous delays in processing.

Guys,
I called the VEC - Richmond office and i checked about my case. It seems that they are still processing Nov. 20, 2001. I do not know what to believe. :(

Re: VA SESA - Incompetent losers?

The most recent cause for the long waiting time at VA SESA is due to a HUGE amount of applications they recieved way back in April 2001. The number of applications was so great, that they are still processing April's non-RIR applications. The reason for the large number of filings in April 2001 was something you will hear refered to as simply "245(i)", which was basically some sort of 'ammnesty' (not exactly) for some illegals - as long as they filed there LC applications before the deadline (April 30, 2001). This is an oversimplification, but someone with better knowledge than myself will have to give you the details.

VEC Phone number is (804) 236-2708 but 'slow_lc' is taking care of calling them on a regular basis and posting the dates on this forum. It's not good if everyone calls them, since this would just waste their time.

As far as wether VEC is swamped or just incompitent, its hard to say. I suspect they don't have enough people to take care of their back log, and I guess getting more money for more people is probably difficult. Why they don't ask us (employers) to help foot the bill, I don't know. My employer would be glad to pay a fee to have it processing in a reasonable time.

Re: Hi John

Still no word. I'm fairly sure my lawyer would have let me know by now if they heard. God, I hope I'm not one of the ones with the VEC guy who is still processing November. (assuming that rumor is true)

John,

How about your case status? Has it been sent to the next level?

John

If you have your case number, you can call up VA SESA and ask them about the status - they should be able to tell you whats happened

Re: John

Thanks,

I just sent an email to my lawyer requesting my case number. Hopefully I'll be able to get to the bottom of this!

Labor stuck up from Nov - 2001

My case too is stuck up in VA SESA. It is EB3 RIR and was sent to SESA on 28 Nov, 2001. I don't know why it is stuck up when cases from Jan have been certified.

Update waiting list

I thought I should also put my name on this waiting list

UPDATE

Just called up VA SESA ( 2.45 E.S.T) . Spoke to one Mr. Richrad Parmer. As per him they are processing Jan 11th 2002 RIR.

To all the folks on the Forum I would be calling VA SESA on every Wed & Fri sometime after 2.00 P.M. E.S.T. So please do not swamp the VA SESA with calls.
