Actually, the article states that there will be performance bonuses ranging from $300 to $400 per month. In order to qualify for the $300 bonus, an employee must be in the top 50%, performance-wise. That's actually a pretty good incentive. However, the remainder of the personnel are s--t out of luck, for lack of better term.

So what sort of "performance incentive" is it when you first take a 25% pay cut, and then have to be a top 5% performer to get anywhere near the same sort of paycheck you had before. That sort of thing really sucks, and I wouldn't be surprised if they loose a significant portion of the staff in a very short time.

Oh, I wouldn't be surprised if they lost a large portion of their staff. Makes you think what they are doing with all the revenue from the flood of applications and fee increases, doesn't it?

Considering that they are low paying contract positions, they probably have a high turn around rate to begin with.

This is true. I guess it made more financial sense to the USCIS to outsource data entry to a private contractor (Stanley, Inc.).

Do these contractors have to go through any background checks / security clearance etc to be eligible to work at a Govt facility?

For crying out loud, can it get any worse? This is my second time applying, the first time it took 2 1/2 years to get denied, now another ridiculous amount of time, so over it all.
