hi all,

in my notice letter it says:

if applying for naturalization as the spouse of a US citizen
1) your marriage certificate
2) your spouse's birth or naturalization cerfiticate or certificate of citizenship

my question, should i take naturalization cerfiticate or passport copy is enough?

thanks

Since you cannot get a passport without a naturalization certificate take only the passport. A US passport is evidence enough that your spouse is a US citizen:)

Is this to go to an interview? If this is for an interview take the originals, and if the certificate is at hand take it with you to the interview. I assume this is for your interview according to your signature. I would assume your naturalization is marriage based. Bottom line, you take originals to the interview, not photocopies.

My 2 cents.

you mean passport copy?

thanks.

nono not copies. Take the original passport. My IO did not even want to see it, but you have to have it with you just in case, also your original marriage certificate, tax transcripts of the last three years and maybe a credit card bill or phone or such that show you both reside at the same residence. Your interview letter should state all the documents you need.

in my in terview, I asked them about my wife.
Answer from officer was "on the day of your oath, have her application ready and send us copy of your certificate.."

in my interview letter it just mention to bring my

green card
passport
intervew letter
marriage certificate
naturalization certificate

thats it...

does it say in that you have bring tax transcript/credit card bills...etc in the interview letter?

I cannot check, since they kept my letter. My letter came with a separate document checklist. Look it is better to bring too much then not enough. Do not forget to bring your spouses passport AND your passport if you have one that is, even if it is old and expired. But as everyone else said bring originals of everything. Furthermore you are applying under the 3 year married to USC rule and as such they like to see the legitimacy of the marriage. That is why they like to see year tax transcripts joined married filed of the past three years. But by any means if your your letter does not say anything don't worry about it.

Take everything

The deal is take EVERY THING IN ORIGINALS and then some in photocopy (marriage certificate, naturalization cert although they should already have the photocopies during the initial application)
You should also take things to prove you two are still living together e.g tax refund, church documents, bills of any kind etc
It is better to take too many than to take too few. You might not be asked for much or anything at all, but I promise, you do not want to be rescheduled because you did not bring an important document. THe queue is already too long and you will have to wait a long time.

My 3 cents
