thanks for your response. You've been an active and supportive member to all of us. Hope you won't disappear when your processing is complete. :D

curious_member! You are welcome. :)

Well in other post you have asked to go sponsored GC route. Well you can follow that route if you have never been illegal in this country. HOwever I want to tell is that you HAVE to be patient with CIS. A lot of my friends who have gotten GC's through employment, took them 4+ years. A lot of people will tell you that you can obtain GC in 2 years thru employment but I Have never met someone who got it in 2 years.

the way CIS is processing Asylum applications looks really impressive. And since this CAP on Asylum is gone I think that CIS feels pressured to eliminate backlog.

If I were you, I would stick with Asylum. Its a secure powerful status (where you won't be abused by employer) with a guaranteed outcome for GC .i.e. of course without crimes etc.

But if you still feel compelled go see a lawyer.
good luck

I agree with Lazer... My lawyer strongly suggested me to stick with asylum status because of the status power as lazer mentioned. I was also told by my lawer that they are trying to push for laws that would make deportation of asylum holders very difficult. I hope that is true because even we become a USC we were asylees at one point. So in a way being naturalized through asylum is the way to go.
