The EAD has no use other than as employment authorization. It is not needed.

so, with just her drivers license? she at the moment, doesn't have a green card, (she lost it), so she's waiting for the replacement.

If she already had a Green Card, then the EAD would be invalid anyways!

yes, she does.
So with just the receipt and her driver license can she travel by road?

If she wants better proof of permanent residence, she can make an Infopass appointment and take the I-90 receipt and her passport for I-551 stamping.
