NEW PROBLEM/QUESTION: need help. Experts help!!
I have interview on June14th and I booked my India trip tickets on July 8th. Will I be able to get US passport prior to my travel on July 8th?
Am I allowed to travel after interview waiting for Oath? (As u know some times Oath can take weeks after interview).
Without Oath, I am not allowed to use INdian passport to travel right?
Is it good idea to postpone my interview now and go to India and then attend interview?
If Interviewer asks me why I made travel between just prior to interview, I can give my reasons ( family member sick)?
I would rather not cancel my India trip for various reasons (booked vacation time at job, anticipation of kids to the vacation, family member not well in India).

A1: That depends on when your oath takes palce, not when your interview does.
A2: Yes
A3: You cannot use your Indian passport after your oath. Before your oath, you can.
A4: I always advise against postpoing the interview or oath.
A5: You can make any travel plans. No need to defend them at your N-400 interview.
A6: Well then just hope that your oath takes place within two weeks of your interview.

You can still travel on your Indian passport between interview and oath, as long as it's not more than a few months. At your interview, request to IO that your oath be scheduled for after your return from India. After oath, you must travel on US passport and surrender Indian one to Indian consulate.

I was told that " There is no restriction on travel between interview and oath but it is not recommended as such travel can trigger another security check and delay. That is why I stated you cannot travel".
Has anyone been in this situation?
Please let us know your experience.
Thanks so much in advance.

Why would it trigger another security check? Unless you travel to any sensitive country, you don't have to worry.

During your interivew, you can tell IO that you have plans to go to India and would like to have same day oath if possible or at the earliest.
What is your DO? Check if your DO has same day oath.

My DO is Baltimore.
How do I check if my DO has same day Oath?
Please let me know.
Thanks for your help in advance.

have the same dilemma

interview on may27 and ticket on june4. Does the NY city DO have the same day oath. It will be at Fed Plaza?

What is the process of delaying the oath. Do I have to send in a formal request letter for delaying it by say 3-4months

You can personally tell your IO towards the end of your interview.
