TN Visa renewal - I-94 still valid

Hello,

I’m planning on renewing my TN Visa (Accountant position) since It expires this October 2018, but my I-94 still valid for another two years (until 2020). Is this a good idea or will it likely get denied because the I-94 is still valid?

Also, could they revoke my current TN Visa in the process if the TN reapplication gets denied?

Thank you for your help

How do you have an I-94 that is longer than your TN validity? What makes you think your TN ends in October 2018?

Mexicans are usually issued TN Visas for one year only, and the I-94 can be issued for a period of up to three years; they do not match. I believe for Canadians is a different story.

To answer your second question: the visa (travel document) states it will expire in October 2018. The I-94 (white paper attached to my passport) expires in 2020.

So, since your VISA is expiring (which means you are still in status for 2 more year), you only need to go to consulate when it is convenient for you. You will not be renewing your TN, just your travel document.

If you are staying in US you don't need to do anything.
