TN status now, but switch to H1B on a different citizenship later, any problems?

Hello All,

I would really appreciate your inputs on the following matter.
I intend to work on TN in the states soon, but would eventually want to get a H1B next year. For various reasons, I would like to have my H1B visa associated with my other citizenship, that is to have the H1B visa attached on the passport of another country. Would this cause any problems? Would they notice this change of citizenship in application?

Thank you!

Status is associated with PEOPLE, not citizenships. Are you Canadian or Mexican?

hello! thanks for the reply. So as long as I can approve I am the same person, there won't be a problem regardless of the citizenship I use during the application? BTW, I am Canadian..

There is no immigration advantage in having your H1 associated with one country or another, and certainly not compared to being able to forego consular approval altogether.

H1's are preocessed by USCIS, so the validity/ expiry date of your passport is not an issue, if that is what you are thinking.

Perhaps by explaining your reason we might be able to correct some other misconception you have.
