It is truly indefinite. No limit, no magic number.

We've heard of those on TN for over 10 years, albeit for different sponsors.

You can not be denied simply for being on TN for x years. In fact the longer you are on TN the more clear it should appear that you are NOT immigrating, and are thus preserving the spirit and the letter of NAFTA.

Just got my um, 1,2,3..., uh 12th TN status @ Blaine Truck Crossing this past Friday!
I've had 5 sponsors over 10 yrs on my 3rd sponsor in the past 9 months. The more I change contract companies and contracts the more they seem to like seeing me.
When I was with 1 company for multiple years it used to be "Oh, another guy with X yrs in with <insert contract company here>".

Nope I had 8 straight in a row with 1 contract company and that was never a problem.
There's nothing I've ever seen in the regs. that says you can't stay with the same company for multiple TN's....

Multiple TNs gets tricky because the officer is attempting to determine if your intent to stay is still of a temporary nature. When applying for your TN Visa (doesn't matter how many times before you've done this) - if you can show your intention is temporary (ie. ties to Canada) this should not be a problem.

Remember, a year is a long time, and truly speaking no one knows what will happen in a year -- as opposed to thinking "I have a fulltime job and its permanent" -- is there such a thing as a permanent job nowadays?

With that whole visa non visa thing I just having flashbacks of my one POE experience at Toronto trying to get my 5th or 6th TN status. I told him I was there to "renew" my TN "Visa". He starts grilling me about there is no such thing as a renewal of a TN visa as first TN status's get new ones not renewed at the border and also there is no such thing as a TN Visa.

I just stood there not sure what the hell he was trying to tell me and thinking he was denying me because he didn't know what a TN was. Finally he said he would approve me of a TN status though. After that I made sure I never made that mistake again ha ha...

Warlord,

You must have had the same guy I had. He starts grillin' me about "What do I do for a living" "The TN is a status, not a visa" blah, blah, blah. This was back in 2004 and I had just received my passport the year before. He's asking me why there's no entry stamp in my passport and going on and on telling me he's trying establish a time line between when my TN was issued versus when I received my passport. I had no idea why there was no entery stamp from the year before. I really wanted say to him "Call the guys in Ottawa where I passed through last and ask them why". I had a splitting headache at the end of it all. I always hated traveling on a TN as it can be such a pain. I have an H1B so I feel a lot more comfortable now.

While I was waiting for my flight, I was talking to a girl who said he did the same thing to her husband - and they were USC's! So go figure. At least he was an equal opportunity griller.

Yeah we get some good ones and then you get those interesting ones that you have to deal with. Can't remember if it was the same guy or another one that told me Geography isn't on the TN list catagories under anything. Finally I convinced him it was under Urban Planning, but he wasn't about to even look it up either.

I hated travelling on the TN too, it was always a nerve thing wondering what type of border guard you'd get. At the land borders it wasn't a problem, but the Toronto Airport they seemed to be really into testing people on TN's for some reason.

I'm just glad I finally got away from all that and moved to the Green Card and then to becomming a USC. I haven't travelled back to Canada yet with my new US passport, but that's a whole other issue. I can't see it being the same as with a TN and flying back and forth...
