Ticket related Q

Hi,
My wife has interview next week. She had a ticket in 2006 and we paid the ticket online and never went to the court. It was doing +14 on I-285. Today we went to the court (Dekalb- Georgia) recorders court to pick up the certified court disposition letter and we got it.

However some of the things are suspicious and I am worried whether it will be a affect her interview.
1. In the Certified Court Disposition letter, on the back page it says for "Other actions" and it was ticket "Bond forfeiture" and the sentence amount/forfeiture was for the amount of the fine. (it was around $124)
2. On the front side, there is a big stamp saying "CONTEMPT $100.00"

The clerk did not mention anything else. Since there was a big crowd, I did not ask the clerk on what the "Contempt" meant.

Does it mean that not showing up to the court is a contempt.

Yes, it was before deadline.

You should have asked the court clerk what is the meaning of those notations in the disposition. I don't see the value of being in court, confused by something and just walking out because there were lot of people. Remember, USCIS is staffed by inexperienced immigration officers, who upon seeing "Contempt" might want to rip your wife's heart out and eat it with a fork and knife. The idea of these documentation is to minimize any delays in her case, because "court contempt" has a negative ring to it, "disregard for authority and laws of the US".

Also, since you are in GA, it is possible your wife said "hi" to the office, who found that to be a turn-on, and wrote contempt in his report...lol!!! What I am saying is that GA is a wacky state, and "Contempt" might be a ploy to raise revenues for the state....

Went to the court again and talked to the Clerk. She said even though the fine was paid before the court date, it mistakenly went before the judge who stamped contempt because my wife did not show up. But later they realized that fine was paid and they ignored it.

The clerk gave me a official receipt saying $0 fees owed and wrote "No Contempt" "No Balance due" and initialed it. This was done on the receipt and not on the court disposition letter.

Do you think this should be ok?

You are good, nothing to worry about. I don't think she will be asked to provide any documentation, because the fine was less than $500...
