Texas Service Center - processing time for OPT?

is anybody there who got his opt lately. I've a job offer but no opt. receipt date is april24

Hey Ash,
Ken_oy RD is Arp 1st 2009 and he got it on June 12th 2009. This is also through TSC. Did you call TSC? In your case it is more than 75 days.

Today is Day 79. I called USCIS and put in a request to expedite since I received a job offer more than a month ago and they need me to start work asap. USCIS said they would contact me in 5-7 days.

@Ash1984,
Good to know that Ash. I made 2 expedite requests so far, none seem to work. May I know which criteria you selected when requesting your expedition? What kinda supporting documents you sent (or planning to send)? I am also in a similar situation like yours. I have a job in hand and got to join ASAP.

Prasan, I called and asked the USCIS representative to expedite my application. He asked for my reasons, which I explained - job offer, need to start asap. He put me on hold for some time, then came back and said he had put in my request for expedition and I would be contacted in 5-7 days. He did not ask for any supporting documents.

Hey Ash,
I did just the same like you (explaining verbally about my job offer and need to join asap) but on 7th day I ended up receiving a denial letter. But it varies from case to case. Good luck with your expedite request! keep me posted.

Hello Ash1984 - I would like to know if you recd any update on yr OPT application as I had filed around the same week and I cannot even see an update on the online case system. Please let me know at the earliest.
Thanks

Deep,

I have not received any updates. As I mentioned earlier in this discussion thread, the online case system is backed-up and is not updating for many people. My online case status has always given an error message saying "case not found".

Hi Ash. I have the exact same problem. Its been 82 days in my case and still no approval/denial. Have you taken any steps regarding this? Or are you just gonna wait for the 90 days to get done? I applied in TSC as well. I think many people who applied in the last week of march seem to have this problem. I know couple of people in my univ with the same problem.

Deep,

As I mentioned earlier in the discussion thread, I called USCIS today (Day 79) and put in a request to expedite (since I received a job offer more than a month ago and they need me to start work asap). USCIS said they would contact me in 5-7 days.

Okay. Sorry to be asking the same question. Anyway I hope you do update here on how the expedite option turned out for you. Good Luck on that.

@Deep,
I never understand how this system works with TSC. If you look at the previous messages in this thread here is a case:
Ken_oy: RD Apr 1st, status update: card production ordered on June 12th 2009. I hope it is also a Post-grad OPT with no special expedite request (s). I don't think it is a problem with those applied in March end or something. By the way, My RD is Arp 6th.

I am not surprised by the case you mentioned. I know many students who applied 3 weeks back and received their OPT. I have been hearing OPT delay only with those who had applied arund March 25-30. It may not be true but I am forced to think this way with enough people having the same problem. It could be possible that they misplaced a bunch of apps that arrived that week. Anyway Just got to wait for 90 days.

Deep,
Everywhere in the USCIS web site it says case handling and even expedite request processing are by "case by case" from the order they are received. So I don't think they would miss a bunch of application and start working on others (just my opinion and I am not against your logical view on this). One of the moderators of this forum who works with Immigration officers suggested plenty of things as deciding factors and you can check those if you are interested. Even in my school there are some students who gotten their cards with RDs after mine (once again they are mid-apr). So you are gonna wait for another 8 days? or you are proceeding to make infopass appointment and stuff like that for interim OPT? Do you know if TSC issues one?

@Prasan, I am starting to research the Infopass appointment and interim EAD process. But I think the infopass appointment can only be made once the 90-day mark has been crossed.

Also, I think that once the 90-day mark has been passed, the International Adviser at can contact USCIS directly and intervene in some way - that's what the international office told my employer.
