If I were you I would not risk sending the Passport to Houston so late in the ball game. Understood that Houston gives the PCC in one/two days but given the fact that Chennai is not requiring it (based on their own emails and from IV FAQ of Chennai Website) I would not obtain a PCC.

If you want peace of mind, my $.02 is drive/fly to Houston and get it rather than risking sending passport now to Houston. Just imagine if they misplace or delay for some reason, you will be toast. Just an advice.

I am not trying to prove anything here, just curious.
All those who have case no as MDR200177xxxx, Please try MDR200175xxxx
and see if your case no is there in Jan interview list.
Please post if you see any interview date with the case no: MDR200175xxxx instead of MDR200177xxxx.

I also applied for my PCC at CGI, Houston.
How long did they(CGI-Houston) take for issuing PCC ?
What is the meaning of \'sepearte letter for PCC\' ?

Since my passport renewed in Houston, they issued same day otherwise they will take 30 days.
I mean, consulate will issue a PCC on a paper not just a stamp on your passport.

I agree with gc_seeker, I received my P4 and they have not asked for it. They are not stupid to ask the same during the interview.

Guys, i got my IV interview on 1/24/2002, i need to book my flight tickets to chennai, Can some one give good travel agents number ?
 
I also got interview date on jan 24

My interview date is also on Jan 24. Consulate received my Packet 3 on Nov. 20 and I got the interview date little earlier than I expected. Hope everything is for good. Getting ready, ordered tax transcripts and also, with other docs.

I called up the consulate as well (Houstin). They said that we can apply by mail. have to send passport, application form, fees and proof of status (in US, I797 copy if H1 is not current).
 
Hmmmm... food for thought, yes.

I am already losing hair because I sent my passport for stamping to DOS. I have asked for it to be sent back and it is already about 2 weeks, still no reply from them. Folks, any idea what I can do to find out or speed this up ? I have tried faxing and calling. Calling didn;t result in much... basically the lady said, fax is the way to do it and if I have then they will track it at the earliest possible.

But on another note, the Indian consulate has been very good in terms of handling mails (ofcourse they suggest not to use postal service, go with courier).
