Telephone number for FBI Name Check?

Yes, I think I'm just going to wait. Not really much else I can do. I kind of just gave up and then stupidly made an infopass appointment just to set myself up for disappointment (or so it seems). Having written to everyone whom I can think of, I find myself extremely frustrated. I would have hired a lawyer but cannot afford to. I think I'm just going to forget about this for another few months as the emotional rollercoaster is something I can't handle anymore. I have signed up for email notifications - I haven't received any to date, but once scheduled for an interview do people normally get emailed on this too (if they've signed up for email alerts?)

Have you already contacted USCIS Ombudsman's office to look in your case delays?

Even in my case same thing happenened 01/08/2010 RFE said a mail has been sent and i did not not receive any mail. Initially they said i have to wait for 30 days. On 02/08/10 i called again .They gave a SR(service request ) number and wait for 45 days. But to day got email said you are in for standard interview and date will be notified.

I suggest please wait for 2-3 weeks and i am hopeful you would get IL

If you are a recent applicant, the RFE reference on the website was most likely pertaining to the FP notice.

I haven't written to the ombudsman yet. That is the only one thing that I haven't done. Granted. I think it's one last thing that I can do. I will get that done over the weekend. Has anyone ever had a positive outcome from writing to them? I can already see the reply "awaiting 3rd party background checks". It's like a sentence that is used to shut anyone up. If nobody want to do anything to track the status (in my case and probably in others I can imagine), this 'background check' can be used as a means to halt that person asking or attempting to ask any further questions. After writing to the FBI, USCIS, Attorney General, Congressman the only reply I ever seem to get it the excuse about 'background checks'. Well, the USCIS have had 1.5 years to do it - what are they waiting for? I am an airline pilot by profession. I fly hundreds of people safely across the nation on a daily basis. I've been doing this for more than the last 5 years. What do they want from me? What other background checks do they want? I can't imagine that writing to the ombudsman will result in an answer any different. Though, I'll write to them just to say I've done it too. Rant over.
