Unless you plan on working, I don't see any advantages to the F1 over the TD and there may be tax complications. TD holders are allowed to attend school.

You can go to school on TD status, but if you need F-1 status for some other reason (e.g. OPT after studies) then you need to file I-539.

Thanks a lot for the input

I think i can do assistanceship(campus job) n OPT if i study in F1....
Just filing I-539 is enough to convert TD to F1?do i need to go out of country or can i do it here in USA?

Sure, but keep in mind that an F1 holder is not considered a US tax resident, so you will be forced to pay Canadian taxes. By becoming a Canadian tax resident, your spouse may be forced to file Canadian taxes on US income as well. That might cost you more than any on-campus job might get you in income.

I do not think it is right.
If he stay in US and without any canadian tie, he can report canadian tax only for canadian income as Canadian no-resisdent, no matter what status he has in US

By law, he cannot become a US tax resident if he is in F, J or M status. And if he cannot obtain US tax residence, he cannot become a Canadian non-resident.
