switching from L1 to TN, but different nationalities

Dear,
Appreciate if anyone can help me with my questions related to my case below:

I hold two citizenships (Egypt and Canada), currently in US on L1A for 6 years on EGY passport, and my wife is working using her L2 (she only have Egyptian passport) and just received an offer from another employer in US, which I would like to accept and utilize the TN visa.

My questions:
- What are the steps to switch from L1 to TN, knowing they are on different passports?
- if I switch to TN, can my wife continue in US on he L2 and continue working? (still valid until end 2024)
- if not, what type of visa I can use to accept the new offer and enable her to work
- can she change status without leaving the country? we have young kid who is US citizen and in school

hope anyone can help with some information
 
- just present your Canadian passport at the border with the required documents for TN (or use your Canadian passport details to apply by mail using I-129)
- Your wife's L2 status is tied to you being on L1 - therefore if you switch to TN, your wife's L2 will be invalid making her ineligible to work on that status.
- You will have to maintain your L1 status for her to be able to continue working on L2 (else she will need to have her own TN to work or TD in which case she cannot work - both can be done using I-129 without leaving the country)
 
@bigboy00 thank you. Question: how will the L1 be canceled if it is on different passport (citizenship)

Also when i switch to TN, do i need to reissue the SSN?
 
It is automatic regardless of which passport the L1 is tied to as you can only legally be in one status at a time.And no, you do not need a new SSN. The SSN is issued for life.

L1 will be canceled as soon as you get your new status (e.g.TN) since you can be on one status at any given time irrespective of your country of citizenship. And SSN once issued remains valid forever.
 
So, to be clear, the instant you get TN (either at the border or by mail notification), your L1 status is no longer valid, your spouse's L2 is no longer valid, she no longer has a legal status and must take steps to get I-94 in TD status (by mail I-539) or by consular visit outside US to get TD visa. She cannot get a TN since she is not CDn, someone incorrectly suggested.
So it might be useful for her to see if she can get another status in US independent of you.
 
Thank you, very helpful.. What other type of visa I can get to work in US using the work offer, and also enable my wife to work?
 
H1-B is the one that comes to mind. There are others. Research. But none a simple as TN.
