Anyone with a pending N400 stuck in namecheck here? When FBI/USCIS say 30 or 120 days, do they mean business days or calendar days?
I was told by a tier 2 officer over the phone. No interview yet. They schedule interview only if name check clearedHow do you know you're stuck in name check? Have you been interviewed? If yes, how long ago was the interview? If no, how long ago did you apply?
My N-400 is also getting through Name check. I did an info pass and the IO at local DO told that still it is under Name check and it could be travel related. I did ton of international travel on Business in the last few years mainly to Europe.
I am guessing 30/120 days are calendar days….
Jack144, have you tried seeking help from your congressional representative? Wondering if that would help?My N-400 is also getting through Name check. How long ago did you apply? It's not unusual for them to take 2-3 months. If you applied less than 3 months ago, you're not really stuck in anything, you're still within the normal time frame.I was told by a tier 2 officer over the phone. No interview yet.
It is standard practice to do that, but sometimes a few people have their interview before the name check is completed. They schedule interview only if name check cleared

Sorry, meant to write FP done 8/16
That is correct jackolantern. I hope you are right about the "normal" processing times however around 80% name checks these days are done in 48-72 hours and about 98% within 30 days. Anything outside that is worrisome. It looks like the OP applied in July (the link below is from the July 2012 tracker thread) and did fingerprinting in August. Which would mean things are progressing in the normal time frame, and it's too early to be concerned about being "stuck" in anything.

Yes, most name checks are completed in less than a month, but it normally takes at least 6-8 weeks after FP to get the interview letter, so it's still too soon to be concerned about your case being delayed.
Jackolantern : so what do you suggest if the namecheck is taking longer than 3 months?
You can't expedite a name check no matter how long it is taking or it will take.
It can be expedited with a WOM or 1447(b) lawsuit. But WOM will almost surely be thrown out if it's filed before the case has been pending for a year, and 1447(b) can't be filed until it's been at least 120 days after the interview.
So while the OP cannot expedite the name check at this stage, there are some long-delayed circumstances where it can be expedited with the help of the courts.
