I'm just curious. I obviously didn't pay $905 for my I-485.
So, I would get an AP and EAD for new prices, wouldn't I?
And next AP will also cost me $305?
 
PD current but no approval yet

My PD is April 30th 2001 which is current now since Jan 2007. I see approvals from May 2001.

If I want to check my file status and would like check if my case is also stuck or not in name check where do I contact?

My interview was done 2 years back, does that mean my name check is done or they are waiting for name check from FBI? Last finger print was done in Sep 2006.

I have Infopass appointment for next week, but from my past experice employee here at Fedreal Plaza (NY) dont have any information besides what they see on their screen.

Please advice...

Just came back from info Pass at Newark. No new info. Stuck in Namecheck since feb2005. Priority date is ocaug 2000

Went to an attorney paid hime $$$ just for consultation on WoM. He advised m not to as my case is substitution

I am really stuck. **** this whole system. To Hell with it. I am going to try to forget this . I wish I could do somthing else to forece uscis for a decision. Guys Let me know if you know of more options. I tried seantor, ombudsmen. tons of faxes/letters to FBI. Nope. Its like Life stuck in an endless tunnel and no light at the end of the *** tunnel
 
thanks to Bay and jcfeng. Yes, those are what I learned too. I have problem about my name "n1-n2 Lname" on my passport but it ends up I got "n1 n2 Lname" "n1-n2 Lname" and "n1n2 Lname".. I have three names now from US gov! I just wonder how do they handle "Mary Lu" which has space but it is first name...

- use "Taiwan", never use ROC
- watch out the name.


Bay, I think your frined is a lucky one who got the greencard so fast...and we are just unluck ones :(. I have been waitting this thing for about 6 years. but I still get nothing...and i485 has been pending for over 2 years.

I will pay for those for sure if they can give me result within 15 days and pay $xxxx...

Hi Bobyang3

My situation is my n1-n2 Ln on my passport and most of my documents but the stupid computer system of USCIS did this n1 n2 Ln... therefore, they look into n1, n2, ln, surely I have one more name... (they always think it is middle name) surely it will cost more to get it down... Imagine you put two words of my first name together... I guess only a few in the world would be the same... Well we can jsut wait...
my Attorney told me the legal fee is $7000.... to sue them plus cost... such as court fees, filing fees.... I don't know anymore... but just keep faith and keep writing to the senator and congresswoman in my region... Luckly I know the congresswoman in person and she is very nice.. I guess I have to talk to her again if nothing happens when my name check is reaching 3 years' pending...

You cannot force USCIS to make a decision, because they're mandated by law to wait for FBI clearance. But you can force FBI to complete the namecheck. Help: Congressman refused to help. What can I do?

Hi:

My I-485 has been stuck in name check for 2.5 years.

I wrote a letter to my local congressman for help, but he replied me with a letter basically saying he can't make an inquiry into my I-485 because I am the beneficiary, and not the applicant. Is that true?

Appreciate any advice.

This is the letter:

Dear xxx:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the pending FBI name check for an I-485 application for which you are the beneficiary.

Please be advised that my office does not act on requests made by "beneficiaries". Only an appliciant or petitioner may initiate an inquiry with my office. That individual or entity must sign a privacy release form giving my office permission to contact an agency on their behalf. The information we obtain from an agency will only be provided to the applicant or petitioner (and not the beneficiary). Furthermore, my office may not discuss an agency response with third parties or beneficiaries. It is the responsibility of the petitioner to share information as they deem appropriate.

If the petitioner wishes to contact my office to initiate an inquiry, my contact information is:

then ask applicant to contact congressman to do the inquiry.

NC for citizenship and 485

Is the namecheck procedure for citizenship and AOS the same? I have a few friends who got their citizenship approval quickly. Nobody has heard of namecheck delays. On the other hand, just about every recent 485 applicant is stuck in NC. Do they expedite citizenship checks?

to read the citizenship seeker's experience. I think we the 485 sufferers should also visit this forum. It seems more active and has a wealth of information .

I wish they start premium processing for background checks or like medicals we can get the backgrounds checks done from third party (approved by govt.) by paying hefty fees.

This wait really sucks. I thought I was almost there but did not imagine that am going into this Background check hell.

Guys what are our options? Contacting senators/congressman seems to be useless Because they are only able to get the status which we know by calling Service Center.

In order to push them to look at premium processing option what do we need to do? Unless something is done, many of us are going to be stuck for upto four years after applying for 485 even PD is current.

485 finger printing question....

Gurus,

could you tell me ...... I did my first finger printing on 02/02/2007 and I saw LUD as 02/02/2007 but no change to the status. So far I have not seen any status indicating they have received or processing finger print info: Is this common? How long it takes for the status to change. some say 72 hrs but I have not seen any status change... confused.....

the status never change for me when i do FP. I did mine in 12/12/2006 but the LUD is still 11/26/2006
 
I share the frustration.
There is a group in yahoo for namecheck. Someone named Randall Emery is collecting 15K to get a lobbying done for doing name check as a service request from individual. I am not sure of the intention of the group as it seems directed towards people aiming for citizenship.

It would be grt if they add more specific
like FP clear
SC clear
instead of just LUD and no message change. That will avoid confusion :mad:

We reported this news a few days ago. Now AILA-USCIS Liaison reports that the USCIS will no longer accelerate for any namechecks because of the Mandamus lawsuits by the applicants. Hmm.......

Here is the status of my 485:
EB2, India
Priority date : July, 2002
485 reciept date : Sep 30, 2005.

When I made a query regarding my case in Nov 2006, I got the reply that my case is pending because my background check is not complete.

Again I made a query on Feb 03, 06 and I got a E-mail reply that

Your application/petition is awaiting assignment to an Officer. You
will be notified when a decision has been made or if additional
information is needed. If you have not been contacted within 90 days please call the number provided below.

Does this mean that my Background check/Name check is complete?

Any idea about how long it might take to assign the case to an officer?

Any feedback is appreciated...

Most probably your NC is cleared, you may call them and check on that.

It usually takes any where between one and three months after the NC is cleared if your PD is current and Processing date is beyond your RD.

I have tried calling Customer Service at the number given on 485 Notice (twice)...But the rep says she do not have any personal information...She only says she can put a request to NSC to give a reply to my query..

Is there any way I can get definitive answer using customer service line.
