There was an LUD change with the following message change on my case
On November 8, 2005, the results of your fingerprint review for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status were received, and processing has resumed on your case. We will mail you a notice if further action is needed, or when a decision is made.
Does this message means all my security check is completed? since this message says my processing has resumed on your case....
And also another LUD change with no message change after three days. I am assuming this LUD is due to my email inquiry.

Hi

I got a similar mail from NSC in response to my call to Cust service.
Mr A has replied that Background check is done by USCIS and Namecheck is done by FBI and that they both are different
So... what is FBI Background check?
Does that mean my Namecheck has cleared?

I enquired through my senator and I got a letter saying our case is stuck in FBI Background check.
I got a similar mail from NSC in response to my call to Cust service.

Trust me and save that time, effort and money for something else.You can write all you want.But it will have no effect.I have tried this.I was writing letters every other week to these guys.I have not receievd even a single response. I have stopped writing to them.It is just a waste of money.Might as well spend on it something else.
Looks like my I-181 got approved. Got an email yesterday saying my GC has been mailed.
Timeline:
Aug 04: Filed 1-485. Based on spouse.
Dec 04: Cleared interview. File went for 'namecheck;
Apr 06: Sent letter to Senator Boxer.
May 4, 06: Called USCIS to change address. Rep was nice enough to put in an official request for status on case.
May 11, 06: Got approval notice saying we have mailed you the Green card etc etc.
Not sure if the Senator's intervention helped or not, IMO it did. But I did manage to get through to a very helpful customer service rep who spent almost an hour on the phone with me so it might have been him.
I had actually called to change the address on my 485 application. Since I did not have a receipt notice, the transferred me to a 'senior' rep with the ability to look up my application using my A#. Seems not all reps can do this. Once I got transferred, this rep seemed to be far more helpful and in-tune than the rest. He put in an official 'request for status' with the CSC.
Finally got the approval notice on May 11.

I have a question, not sure if this is the right forum to ask, please direct me otherwise.
I am ready to file my I485 with all documents ready to go but my H1B extension is pending. My previous H1b has expired already. I do have the I797C receipt notice for the H1B extension application though.
Is it advisable for me to wait till the h1b extension is approved before filling the I485? or just submit 485 now with the h1b extension receipt notice? I think it should be fine to file 485 with the receipt. what do you guys think?

hehe. so it looks like i should wait for a little more? i am preparing WOM with lawyer help but saving that $5000 is pretty appealing too.

According to FBI, http://www.fbi.gov/hq/nationalnamecheck.htm, they receive more than 3 million name check requests each year. About 10% have hits, that means more than 300,000 cases need manual check. Sounds a lot to me.
