I think this list needs updation, just now i checked Outletvolt1 and romit, their NameChecks cleared long back and they are not updated this list.
 
Name Check and Priority Dates....

Ok, I just called VSC and the agent told me something I've never heard before. She said my case was stuck owing to visa number unavailability.. But when I asked her specifically whether or not my FBI/name check was complete, she said because of a new policy, FBI is performing name checks only for those cases which have their priority dates current. She elaborated that FBI does not want to finish name checks, only for those "name check approved" cases to languish for want of visas and expire.. So I learnt couple of things today - FBI name checks have an expiration date - after which you have to do it again, and that FBI is only undertaking name checks for those cases which have current priority dates..

Never a dull moment! Have you guys ever come across this in any of your conversations with VSC or other service center folks ?

Did you ask her/him if there is any link in uscis about this new policy?

This way atleast people who are stuck in nc need not wait even after their dates become current!

Once your date becomes current the name check is done.

Did I understand it right or am I assuming..please clarify.

No it does not mean what you just stated.
It simply means that FBI will work on those cases and only cases for the time being whose Priority dates are current.
hence not wasting time on those case who dates will become current say in 4 months.
So For EB3 they are currently trying to clear all those case whose Priotiy dates are JAn2000 and before.
 
but how does FBI know whose priority date is current or not? Does CIS furnish them with Name Check form along with priority date info? It makes sense for the new submissions? How about those who are already suck in the Name check and FBI doesn't have priority date and visa info? Am I missing something?

This is a substantial piece of news, if it is true. Did these guys ever think about the feelings of us? I mean, when the cut off date was current we need to wait for the damn name check, and now looks like their burden on name checking is lighter since less people can submit I-485, but we need to wait for our PD to get our name check going.

What really make me feel bad is that I believe our nightmare won't stop on the date when visa become available - most of us will need to wait for the name check again, because by that time there will again be a backlog on Name check.

I have heard many stories about how FBI handled name checks during the 3 years my name check is pending. Now, my only conclusion is: This is just a sloppy process, nothing logical about it.
 
Being proactive?

Guys so should I just call the USCIS and ask them whether my name check has been cleared or not? I have no idea of my name check status. :confused:

feel extremely lucky if they would tell you, but mostly you will end up getting nothing other than "I am not able to access your personal information" blah, blah...

I agree with you. I do not think CIS provides priority date to FBI. FYI we (me and my elder son) are also stucked in nam check.
 
I don't think that it's true. My name check has been stuck since 03/04, and my PD is 10/01, which is current according to the VISA bulletin. I just got a reply from my congrassman saying ..............................PENDING

Hello,

Seems like I am a new entrant to this club, based on my last call with TSC, my name check is pending, my wife's is cleared. Interestingly, He first told me based on my SRC* that your finger print check was returned ok same day and name check is also ..., then he paused for a moment and said computer system is not working ok. After a few moments, he says I am not through yet. I inquire about my wife and he tells me she is through and it will take 60-90 days to process. I applied i485 Nov 18.2005. with PD of April 2001.

Interestingly I asked him next for AP approval and he did not find any AP application by my name (I don't have a receipt number as my company does not provide one)

How can I verify if I got correct info?

USCIS/VSC no longer tells when they requested name check?

As I wrote before, my I-485 processing was delayed due to pending security check, as USCIS/VSC informed. In 01/06, I again went to InfoPass to inquire on my FBI name check. An officer said they no longer tell when it was requested from FBI; he only told me that it was still pending. It appears to be a new policy as he pointed to a piece of paper in front of him with such instruction; he also said they used to tell. (Indeed at 7/05 InfoPass, another officer told me the date (09/03) when my name check was requested from FBI). When I inquired about the status of my IBIS check, the officer asked how do I know about such check; I referred to the GAO report. He indicated that they did not tell what were the components of the security/background check.

I was wondering whether anyone heard about the new USCIS/VSC rule not to tell when they request name check from FBI. It would be even harder to track the status of the name checks.
