I came to this country holding my life on my hand hoping i will have a good life. but iam dying here everyday without basic needs. i have walk almost 1 hour to goto college. and so much pain every day. companies dont want to hire me since i dont have work permit. iam a software engineer, one employer willing to sponsor me.... some one please advise me what should i do??????? can i convert asylum into H1? some one please help me. I have gave up everything and about to die now. :(

Have you looked into applying for asylum in a third country? Also, I think an H1B visa might be a dual purpose visa that anyone can apply for even if they have a legal residence application pending. I've read that before maybe someone with solid info on that can verify it with personal or second hand experience.

I did not. I straight came to America hoping i would get the Asylum granted soon.since I heard America is the number one country to consider the human rights and so on....
is there any alternate way to get my work permit. so that i dont have depend on my friends all the time.

I don't understand how you are being denied an EAD. Have you been given a specific reason why you have not been given work authorization? Have you ever been arrested?

8 CFR § 208.7 Employment authorization.
(a) Application and approval. (1) Subject to the restrictions contained in sections 208(d) and 236(a) of the Act, an applicant for asylum who is not an aggravated felon shall be eligible pursuant to §§274a.12(c)(8) and 274a.13(a) of this chapter to submit a Form I–765, Application for Employment Authorization. Except in the case of an alien whose asylum application has been recommended for approval, or in the case of an alien who filed an asylum application prior to January 4, 1995, the application shall be submitted no earlier than 150 days after the date on which a complete asylum application submitted in accordance with §§208.3 and 208.4 has been received. In the case of an applicant whose asylum application has been recommended for approval, the applicant may apply for employment authorization when he or she receives notice of the recommended approval. If an asylum application has been returned as incomplete in accordance with §208.3(c)(3), the 150-day period will commence upon receipt by the Service of a complete asylum application. An applicant whose asylum application has been denied by an asylum officer or by an immigration judge within the 150-day period shall not be eligible to apply for employment authorization. If an asylum application is denied prior to a decision on the application for employment authorization, the application for employment authorization shall be denied. If the asylum application is not so denied, the Service shall have 30 days from the date of filing of the Form I–765 to grant or deny that application, except that no employment authorization shall be issued to an asylum applicant prior to the expiration of the 180-day period following the filing of the asylum application filed on or after April 1, 1997.

Why don't you go to the court and explain the situation to the receptionist at the court. He/she might transfer you to the appropriate department at the court.

Remember that most of this forum members went through difficult time. You are not alone. God bless you.

gmail,

You are providing inconsistent information in this thread. At first you talk about a final hearing that the IJ postponed. Then you are talking about a master hearing that you postponed, then you bring up a master hearing that you imply that you showed up for. What's the real story? Give dates of actual events and outcome of those events.

Filing date.
First appointment.
Date you contacted court to request rescheduling.
Date that you requested changing courts.
Date of next scheduled appointment.
Date that you were told by court of cancelled appointment.
Date that you were notified of new appointment.
Date(s) that you showed up.
Results of that any appointment(s).
