My wife has just filed for her naturalization.
she has got some skin problem on her hands due to bleach used at her workplace and she is worried that her hands skin problem will create issue in her finger print process.

can there be a problem due to problem on her hands ?

Regards/Ajay

It might make prints harder to read. Have her use a good hand lotion for a week before FP to soften her skin.

I have a friend whose GC got delayed for almost a year because they couldnt get a good set of prints off him. He's got sweaty hands that results to skin peeling off his fingertips.

I also have very smooth fingertips. In my last biometrics, the technician spent more than half an hour on me because my fingerprint scores were always 0 or less than 50.

I was going to resort to this if necessary:

Ridge Builder
Certain individuals, because of work or medical conditions, such as masonary workers or the elderly can develop worn or smooth fingerprint ridges. This can cause difficulty when fingerprinting and results in an unclear fingerprint. In such cases this Ridge Builder lotion is recommended. The ridge builder works by temporarily “puffing” or raising the fingerprint ridges and in most cases provides a clearer print. Simply apply a small amount to the fingerprint and wipe clean prior to printing. 4 oz. jar.

But her problem is that her hands are gone very DRY, hard and cracks on them.
she is applying a lotion prescribed to her but not getting a speedy recovery.

If they cannot get good prints, they may send them to FBI anyway and see if they are rejected or not. Sometimes they attempt a second fingerprint. If these are rejected as well, she will need to get police clearances in the places she has lived last 3 or 5 years. They will let her know what to do every step of the way, do not worry or speculate just yet :)

Follow the link. There are products that can help with very dry hands.

I don't want to gross you out but some products are used to get fingerprints off corpses whose skins have dried out.

As I said, last resort. Let her try her lotion first, go to the scheduled biometrics. If it fails, then order one of the products in that site.

it happened what i was afraid of.
The Lady taking her finger prints tried two, three times but didn't got the satisfactory prints and asked her to go saying that you will informed the next step.

don't know whats gonna happen next.
1) will she be called up again for the finer prints ?
2) is it going to take a longer time for her finger prints to get through and delay her naturalization process?
3) Whats going to be the next step?

she is so disappointed due to her hands that not even preparing for the interview. :(

After second formal FP attempt, an applicant's prints that still can't be read is asked to provide police records from area of residence during statutory period.

A delay of 1-2 months should be expected.

I just had my citizenship test & interview on 7/8/09. I passed the interview and the test but since they still can't read my fingerprints, the immigration officer asked me to get police clearance from all the places that I used to live. My question is as soon as I get all the clearance, mail them to immigration, how soon will I know if I get the oath ceremony?

Thanks!

You'll get an oath letter in the mail.
