Sisters visitor visa pending administrative processing --- Help !!

This is interesting to read. Lets hope for it. Btw where are you from? it shows post time as nite 2.. but me being in eastern timezone. its still 1.40 here.. interesting,, anyways lets hope they process it soon. am soo eager and impatient.. ohh my god. I wouldnt be suprised if you really should at walls twice a day ;) ..

Discouraging news on some forums....

Hi,

People are still reporting 3 months+ times for the pending admin processing to get completed. I have asked for dates - but no one has replied...hope that these are old posts and that the claim of 14 days really holds true.

I wonder if we should send them (consulate) and email after the 10-12 business days they promised asking for a status. Any idea if it will have a negative effect ?

Seems like what you see have is true. Even consulate people said they cannot commit for a particular date and the processing may take any longer (this was told to my parents at the time of interview). However my moms colluegue who were hit by TAL too got their visas in 4-10 days span. Ofcourse there are couple of them still waiting for almost 3 weeks.
Avdx, seems like your article might be true in our cases but there are other instances too where they got it in reasonablly less time.
I don't think its a good idea to send an enquiry email after 10-12 days. They stongly discourage this. I would say just stop researching, we can't do anything but discourage ourself by doing soo much research..
If you are working, just try to hang out more time and be relax.

Yes, I agree with you totally...I guess I was in a phase yesterday - today I am calmer. So I am hoping that we are in the 4-10 category :)

Yes, and I think your other suggestion of not sending an email to them is also good....I wont...will just wait. We have till April 23rd - as my sis is booked for April 26th....so hopefully we will hear something before that.

yea, 23rd.. the day... am eagerly waiting. I am just waiting for their call or email. Btw do they email, if they issue visa or they just send it by post? I am really confused but just dont wanna think about it.. anyways.. what you do in calif? you work their or go to school??

I work in CA...bay area, actually...so atleast most of the days I have been busy with work and not thinking...and am trying to keep busy on the weekends...so I dont think. Yes, its difficult to wait and wait...

Not sure what way they contact - I have heard either ways...so just waiting for whichever way they do.

Hey, if you are in touch with your parents' friends, keep track of how many days on avg they waited for this clearance...will give us an idea.

Well I did speak to them, There are 4 of my moms collegue had 221(g) and guess all of them were hit by TAL. One of them got in 4 working days after sending the email and another had to drop in the same bio and ref details and it took them about 3 weeks. and rest 2 are still waiting its been almost 10 working days since they sent it. am just trying hold my nervers. am glad atleast your were here who can understand the feeling.

Here is the email i got from one of the forums hit by same 221(g) and asked to email the consulate ofcourse it was for H1b .

The email info that was requested from me was a farce and does not have
to do anything with the case. The passport was actually held for admin
processing, probably under TAL (technology alert list). I had been
following vigrously with the department of state. I got to know that it is
an inter-agency security clearance and the last I heard, I was told it
may take near to 6 weeks. I am almost there and hoping that it will be
through soon.
There is no point in calling the consulate. They have a sterotype
response that they are still waiting for clearance.

Hope we all get it over with soon! "

Definitely its not a good sign. I have been telling you to control your curiosity but seems like am not able to do it for myself. :(

H1B - hmmm - horrible stories...but then I am just hoping that we arent in the unfortunate H1B bucket....

Ya, I know what you mean by having atleast someone who is updating on this forum...I wonder if either people arent getting that many 221gs or are not aware of this forum...or perhaps they prefer to stay silent and benefit from other peoples posts.... :( I wish some other folks in similar situations had updated this forum too. Anyways, lets keep the spirits up.

Some useful number

Here is the way to contact numbers about the visa status, cont. of my prev. post. Got from same person who replied me about his status.
"
Here are some numbers you can try. When you call dept of state, first press 1, and then 0. You should be able to talk to a visa specialist. The applicant's passport number is used as the reference. You have to be a little patient as the process may take time. I am also still waiting, 6th week running!

Do you think we should call ?

Thanks a lot for the contact info. Do you think we should call ? Or should we wait out this week ? I am in two minds. My impatience is saying - -- call, call call...my caution is saying...wait wait wait. I think its a tough decision...does it make a negative impact if we do call ?

Wondering if I should...I think I will give it 2 more days and then try...what do you think ?

Any progess on your mom's colleagues who were waiting for nearly 3 weeks ?

I think its good idea to wait atleast 10 working days before we call them up. I have strong feeling we should be able to get some info within 10-12 working days. May be I will wait until this week end and will call them up if there is no response. Let cross our fingers.. I know how it would be but I guess thats how life goes on.

Well we are net addicters.. I have a presentation in couple of hours and am sitting here doing notting... may becoming more and more impatient. Hey if possible please give me a call when you get any updates, no matter how late in night it is. I will send you my ph number in private msg. I am soo eager that i cant do anything but just look for forums and threads that gives some info. Anyways i shud start concentrating on my job application processs. I can't waste time like this. spl graduation is aroud the corner and being finals week. I have been wasting soo much time. Yday nite I was watching cricket crazily until morning 8 EST. Dont worry too much...it will come thru. The question only is "when"...so till then, just take it one day at a time. I disciplined myself yesterday to not research anything on the net after office hours...try doing that.
