in french, pro bono is working for free, du not know for english but in france, an lawyer working pro bono works for free or for a very small fee or... scratch what i said, I am reading the full definition while typing this line &... you right

I have no idea why anyone might say that. They could be idiots after all.So why on earth re some ex-22k sayin he's doin it 4 free even on his website is there sayin DONATIONS?

Donations cover expenses (travel, printing, fedex, filing fees etc). Expenses aren't taxable and none of donated money is going into White's pocket.pro bono + donation = no taxes on that money
maybe this mister white realy care about the 22k, i do not know why nobody is mentioning that... & for the lawsuit... do you know there is a class action lawsuit in georgia for that law allowing police to check the statu of a suspect?

Houston police refusing the bill allowing them to check criminal status

nah, in fact pro bono is either free or for a small amount mostly to cover the expense & it is for peoples with no to very few priviliege. but not necesserelly free.

Me 2 jayo2k i am a bit confuse but i knw i cannot be confuse all because of Mr white's lawsuit and the ex-22k.They re only to complicate things which they wont succeed?I believe GOD is in control of everything.Lets just move on with ourlives and leave the rest for GOD to take care of.
well, many of the 22k are from low percentage countries, many have applied for years so for them, they have nothing to lose... I am ready to bet that none of the plaintif are first timer

Offcours jayo2k u should know that majority of the plaintiff re the old applicants that have been applyin 4 DV for years and they have not won.Thats why they re takin this case too far.U can see how far the ex-22k can go, the length they have gone.Jayo2k goodnight hope we ll continue 4rm here later/2mrrow.GOD Bless us all.
If I were these ex 22,000 winners, i wouldn't even be happy for this so called class-action lawsuit because it's not something that will end in few months! You guys will be waiting for the conclusion of the lawsuit while DV2013 and DV2014 winners will have stayed one-two years in the states! The funny thing is that, if the re-draw is finally released on 15 July, some of you will be winners agin, what then will you say about the lawsuit? What I don't even get about this Mr. White is that he's a two-faced person! He was the one clamouring the injustice done to the non-winners when the results were released on may 1st, and I'm sure he was among the reasons DOS invalidated the results! Now again, when DOS made the decision to invalidate the results, he moved to the 22k winners...smh!
22k winners & 2100 "22 tears" facebook members...36 plaintifs... do the math... july 15, i win, fine, the lawsuit? do not realy care... sure if that get me my "winning" back i will be happy but i am not counting on it & my name is not even in that lawsuit

Well, you do make me laugh, and you are right! - although "lazy bums" may be true of some, but a bit harsh on others. Afterall, the class action makes your case stronger? and many "lazy bums" are writing letters to get coverage, and donating. Don't the donations then lessen your costs?
If this doesn't get approval as a class action, then can more plaintifs join, or file another case?

Arkee and Jayo2k you can read American Bar Association Model Rule (ABA) 1.6 it explains what pro bono means. I plain english a lawyer has a professional responsibilty to do pro bono work for 50hrs a year. It could be in these forms
1. do it a reduced fee for those who can not afford
2. do it for free
3. make financial contribution to legal institutions
4. etc
A lawyer is also free to solicit donations. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the lawyers request for donations. Besides, he will have to declare that to the court incase he wins and the court decides to award him attorney fees.
On the class action lawsuit, even if the court fails to certify it as class action, Rule 20 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure allows person/people wif they have a question of law or facts common to all the plaintiffs. In short it is called the "Permissive Joinder of Parties"
Not everyone was named as plaintiff because in a class action lawsuit just ONE person is enough to represent the class.
And those saying it takes years for a class action lawsuit, it really depends. But looking at the time critical of this case it possible an injuction will be placed on the July 15 before the merit of the case is decided.
Regardless of the lawsuit, if DoS reinstate the 22k winners, the case will be "moot." That means there is be no need for the lawsuit and the court will dismiss the case.
I have said this over and over again and I cant emphasize that enough, what does those who did not win lose if the 22k winners are reinstated?--NOTHING Afterall, a new draw is being done to accomodate those who did not win.
We cant blame the 22k winners when those who didnt win are happy these peoples' results have been invalidated-- we are eachothers brother keeper. Before MAY 1, we all came to this forum to help eachother go through the process BUT now we are sharply divided about this issue, which could be simply solved.

As long as the redraw is on, I don't have anything against the ex-winners getting reinstated. But at the same time, because of the lawsuit, God knows how much longer we're gonna have to wait for all this to resolve. On top of that, with so much publicity the whole programme is at risk now. That's what makes everyone angry.
