Hello friends,
Please enlighten me!!! I will FINALLY be current as of September 1st and am preparing to self file my I-485 petition. My employer provided me the COURTESY copy of the I-140 approval and the official copy went to the attorney. We are unable to reach the lawyer. I was planning on filing the I485 with a copy of the courtesy copy. Is this feasible? Will USCIS accept my application? Any input/experiences will be highly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Anyone??? I tried calling USCIS but they would not transfer me to an immigration officer. The rep couldn't answer my question!!! So frustrating :(

The phone people are useless.

Anyway, to answer your question, yes you can go ahead and file it with a copy of the I-140 approval. Others here have done it successfully.

Thank you Jackolantern! They are completely useless...the rep proceeded to tell me about taking copies of my naturalization documents blah blah blah. It's funny and sad at the same time! Anyhow, just to confirm, when you say copy of I-140 approval, do you mean the courtesy copy? Thanks again.

-------- You CAN file the I-485 directly. attach the Copy of I-140 (keep the original COURTESY copy of the I-140 approval with you). You will also need the JOB offer Letter from Employer that should be sent with I-485.

Ginnu, do you mean I have to send a copy of the original I-140 petition? Or just a copy of the courtesy copy? I am so confused and have waited so long to file...I don't want to make any mistakes. Thanks again! P.S: I have the employment letter already thankfully :)
