S. 1932 Status

Looking at the Chairman of Budget Comiitte, Jim Nussle's confidence when he talks, It looks like he has the required 218 votes in pocket.

He reminds me of a software engineer's confidence that interviews for a 3 rd position with two offers in hand.:)

don't know Dude, Chandrababu Naidu kept saying he's coming to power when he knew he's winning in places he could count on fingers. But I wish you're right

This democrat are morons who are just criticising this bill and not telling anything what they can do. They just come on floor and shouts and screms saying that this bill is increasing deficit. Everyone keeps one and the same thing. I don't understand why any Republicans are not getting up and saying something.

Why ? You can hear them, they cant hear you so don't worry. Let's keep talking while they are talking bullshit, for past 1 1/2 hr. both sides are talking same thing no more no less, just different voice.

When will they Vote eventually

Its already midnight 12:06 in washington... Many of them are elderly but still are actively debating even at this late hour... when will they finally decide to go to bed so voting might be done with?

Joe Barton who was initially opposing the bill since the oil drilling provision was removed is an important person. He has those 25 votes for which Republicans since last few weeks were trying so hard. He also said that he will vote against this bill. However, so far he has not said anything against the bill.

I think that is a good news for this bill to pass. Things are still unclear.

They really worked for their say

Both sides have really worked hard it looks like... Many brought so many different charts and graphs to back their voices.

I doubt there will be a vote today.

If they need 218 republicans to vote, I can see only few dozen people who are sitting in the house currently... so, I guess the voting is not for today! May be tomorrow when the voting time starts at 6:00 PM. Any thoughts?

Ok... 16 more mins for Reps and 12.5 for Dems...

It looks like this will go on for another 40 minutes minumum... And since I dont think they will vote on it today.. I am going to bed guys!

You are not seeing too many people because both Democrats and republicans are trying hard in the lobby to have more votes in their side.

Republicans are still short of some votes. They are hoping that they will have the votes after midnight on this five-year deficit-reduction plan. The outcome of this bill still remains unclear. No matter what happens tonight; it is very important for the immigration community to have this bill have safe passage.

If that happens then only we will be able to address Retrogression problem.
