S. 1932 Status

According to Shusterman’s website:

"The House-Senate conference committee issued its report which strips the doubling of EB immigrant visas and adding 30,000 extra H1-B visas from the bill."

So, there you go... does this mean we are doomed?

I think this is incorrect. The House named the conferees at 6:44 P.M. - so how can they already get together and issue a report?! Read news from websites but do not think it is an absolute truth. As of now please focus on the task at hand of contacting the conference committee

all done !

Not to discourage anybody from their efforts , but seeing the message from the shusterman.com , it does appear it is indicating about the same bill as we all have been lobbing for.

thanks

The message from Shusterman seems to be more to provoke immigrants into opposing HR 4437 in the Senate, by telling that everything is going against immigrants. I don't think it is based on facts.

looks like this guy is support of H1 program but is very anti-immigration.
He co-sponsor bills to reduce immigration tremendously. he supports H1 but not in favor of unskilled workers.need to tell him we are not taking jobs away, we are skilled , and creating jobs.

The employment-based permanent immigration cap currently is 140,000 visas per year. The Judiciary Committee proposal raises that number to 230,000 and exempts workers' families from that cap. Based on family statistics from the last four fiscal years, the Committee's proposal could raise total employment-based permanent immigration by more than 350,000 per year.

Congressman Lamar Smith, former chairman of the Immigration Subcommittee, said, "This measure is a behind-the-scenes permanent foreign worker program that will take jobs from American workers. To raise the number of employment-based visas by such a significant amount without the benefit of committee hearings, floor debate, or even public input is not fair to the American people who oppose an increase in immigration."

Goog work guys

I came to this thread from DBEC thread where FEB04 posted this thread link.

I have been following all the actions from this evening, I did call and sent faxes. Good work guys.
Hope and pray as a team we should make it happen

Shusterman and even AILA talks about the House version which never had eb/h1 visas in the first place. We have a conference committee to reconcile the differences between the two bills (House/Senate version).I don't know how many times this has been repeated here.
Please do continue the good work to influence conference committe.

Guys,

Keep up the fight on. Lawyers and their association have their hidden agenda. We will fight till we are not able to resolve our problem. Deficit reduction bill is very complex bill and there are many people who wish that this bill don't pass and there are some like us who wish that the bill has the immigraiton clause and it passess.

Keep faith in God.

I perfectly agree

I perfectly agree with the following statement by pdakwala..

It is logical.. Because If employers(Especially desi) get a feeling that any lawfirm or association helping to remove retrogression.. Guess what.. all the business to that lawfirm will be lost..

I guess it is sooooooooo simple to understand the logic..

So we have to fight on our own..

12/17/2005: House and Senate Will Be in Session Today (Saturday)

* House will reconvene at 2:00 p.m. and Senate will reconvene at 4:00 p.m. today. People should have a sufficient time this morning to contact them before they go into the special weekend session via "fax" and "phone calls." House will also meet Sunday. If S. 1932 is not finally compromised and resolved this weekend, both the House and the Senate are expected to return to a special session early next week so that they finish up S. 1932 before the First Year of 109th Congress closes its curtain until the next Congressional year.

IsnAMerica.Org Webfax is now set up for confirmed S1932 conf com members

can soemone post link to S.1932 w.r.t 8001 and 8002

I think shusterman clearly means conference report on S.1932 . But I want to make sure he is talking about 8002 and not 8001 .
Can soeone post the link so that we find the differences. ?

Ignorance is NOT bliss . We have to get to bottom of it.

Meanwhile , I called VM of my local congress man asking to go to conference committee and impressupon them the need for 8001 .
So you might want to do that too . Yesterday they voted heavily against immigration , so they will give us some break today .

It will be better if our local congressman talks to these CONFERENCE , than we talking to them .
