I got an email on CRIS, regarding an RFE on my I-485.
Any ideas anyone what could be the reason ?
Or what are the more common reasons ?

If forum members could share some of their RFE stories, it will be very good and comforting.

The suspense is killing me.

Did you try to search forum?
My RFE was about skin test. Other common - birth certificate, employment verification, status verification...

The RFE is for Employment Verification, which must be signed by an executive of the company or same person who signed the I-140 and LC petition stating that I am still under their employment and they continue to employ me moving forward.

I must say, this puts a wet towel on AC-21 and the 180-day portability.
As if I have used AC-21 and ported to a new employer, this RFE would not have reached me, as I would be with a new employer.

This RFE must be replied with 30 days, is this something that USCIS has implemented to 'trap' job hoppers.

Well I am relieved, as I am still here and have no intention to leave, but what about those that has left with EAD inhand and filed AC-21

Your employer has nothing to do with your I-485; it is your petition and the RFE is sent to you or your attorney, no matter who your employer is. If you have used AC21, you'd provide evidence of your new employment and claim portability under AC21.

The RFE will reach you even if you have used AC21. You should not do the mistake of going with the same attorney used by your ex-company in AC21 situation. File a new G28 by hiring a new attorney and notify USCIS of the use of AC21.

Yes you are spot on.
I read the formal RFE and it was addressed to me, but sent care/of to the attorney (in this case the same attorney) and it says "sent currently dated, and signed letter from your current employer"

It does not say anything about from employer AAA or petitioner or whatever.

So sorry for the alarm bells.

It is perfectly alright and infact very convenient to use your old attorney (the one which represented your old company) if he/she does not have any conflict of interest representing you (as an employer of another company - mostly a direct competitor of the old company).

I am using the same attorney after AC21 and it is the best thing to do. No lost change of G-28's and no lost RFE's !
