This site is great. In the process of filing for my mother. Alot of questions have popped into my mind. The biggest one is relating to revocation of citizenship/deportation.
My situation: Moved to USA when i was 12 on green card. Father naturalized when I was 17, thus I automatically became a citizen also. I now have a US passport that was issued before I turned 18. (now 22, I am filing for my mother)
I have been reading about deportation, and I began to have all these feeling that what if someday something happens and the big bad USCIS wants to revoke my citizenship/deport me to a country I hardly even remember. what will happen.
since I automatically became a citizen through parent, I never had to apply or take oath. I read that the only way immigration can revoke citizenship is if you lied while getting your naturalization. Such as if you had a record and didnt tell them...etc. Since I never took oath or apply. (and had no criminal past) Can my naturalization be revoked? Is there any situation that can cause this (apart from if i take oath or position for another country)
Thanks.
